Now all I can think of is the Huey Lewis-Sports synopsis by Christian Bale in American Psycho…

I’m surprised nobody has gone onto the discogs.com page for that album and posted Patrick Bateman’s ‘review’ word for word. Maybe on iTunes store; I haven’t looked yet.

Also memorable is when Willem Dafoe is grilling him later in the movie, pulls out a Huey CD and Bale / Bateman responds with “nah, Huey’s too…‘black’ for me.”[/reply]

Haha, indeed…he also later on in the film does a breakdown of Phil Collins:Face Value…[/reply]

Hahahahaha! I love that shit. I’ve got the DVD and showed it to a friend who had never seen it just the other day.

“his early stuff was reminiscent of Elvis Costello, a little too New Wave for me.”

Haha it’s great because an Elvis Costello influence on Phil Collins is quite a stretch. Too bad we never got Patrick Bateman’s assessment of “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway…”

Wait - stop presses - Face Value is set to be [url https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Face_Value_(album)]re-issued in 2016, with bonus tracks!

The reissue that the world needs.

I got the book years ago, but could never power through five page descriptions of his stereo system, half of which reads like stereo instructions.

But, in my opinion, going back to the film - his opening scene in the bathroom getting ready for work is one of the greatest and simplist character introductions ever.

I liked during the RevCo/Ministry tour when Josh Bradford would stop halfway through Purple Head and recite the Huey Lewis speech verbatim.

I am celebrating the end of my Day of Atonement with a full-on Funk Cleanse, as recommended by my dietician. On the one, y’all:

Funkadelic - Uncle Jam Wants You
Mutiny - Mutiny on the Mamaship
The Time - s/t
The Beginning of the End - Funky Nassau
Rick James - Bustin’ Out

That’s a great soundtrack! Might have to Spotify the shit out of that today!

Haha! I kind of remember him babbling about Huey Lewis but didn’t know what it was about or what he was saying specifically.

I recently got “Sex-O Olympico” in the 13th Planet clearance sale. It’s actually a pretty decent album now that I’ve gotten past my prejudices.

I have been trying to tell people this for years.

Ah,Mutiny on the Mamaship…one of the forgotten P-Funk related albums…and a great one it is…I always found it funny how P-Funk members would do a “solo” record or some other project and yet virtually all of the other members of P-Funk would end up on it anyway hahaha…so great…I went on a binge of P-Funk solo and related stuff about a month ago…I have a lot of that shit…

I met Jerome Brailey once after a Third Rail(Bill Laswell,James Blood Ulmer project)show at the Knitting Factory in NYC…he was the nicest dude…hung out and drank a few beers and told some P-Funk stories…good stuff…

Sounds like good funkay times. A-Yoooo-hoooo!

Also (since we were talking about serial killer movies earlier…), Mutiny’s almighty “Lump” plays in one of the club scenes in “Cruisin’” with Al Pacino.

Since my last post, I also snuck a couple tracks - which I should not be listening to at work - from the laughably over-the-top, sex-tastic Prince project ‘Vanity 6’. Worth it just for the track “If A Girl Answers…Don’t Hang Up,” in which the Purple One impersonates a woman at the other end of a phone conversation with a rival lover. Totally awesome if you’re in the mood for it.

It is, i really like it. Maybe not as good as Cocked and Loaded, but still a very decent effort.

Good call on the Mutiny song in Cruising…a really underrated film and an interesting snap shot of gay/S&M culture in a pre-Aids era…the mighty William Friedkin hiys another home run…between that one,The Exorcist and Sorcerer the dude will always have my respect…

Not to mention The French Connection,To Live and Die in LA and Bug…I even dug the more recent Killer Joe…just total sleaze all the way…
