Funny to see all the Prodigy hatred on here. I remember getting Fat Of The Land for Xmas in 1997, and I’d probably still enjoy it for the nostalgia factor. I still sometimes wonder what the “poem” in the cd booklet means…
Our UK members here might be familiar with the hilarious family-friendly “rave”-inspired TV show “Dance Energy,” that broadcast around the time when the Prodigy were storming the charts with their early singles. Back when the sun did not set on the empire of floppy hats, Fresh Jive, and people yelling “fockin’ WICKED!!!” at every analog knob-twist.
I could’ve sworn I’ve also seen a clip of a pre-fame Marilyn Manson and Twiggy on either Dance Party USA or Club MTV, not performing but in the crowd dancing and acting like goofballs. Can’t seem to find it though.

I dunno what’s funnier, the fact that they did it, or the story behind it and how Trent totally downplays the whole thing…
The Manson clip you speak of was on MTV. He was promoting an upcoming show and talking about his crush on Kennedy…

I like them, apart from the first album which everyone over here loves. Much better than any of America’s attempts at dance music, which still hasn’t reached the point The Prodigy were at in about 1992, hahaha. I actually can’t stand dance music either, but i still enjoy The Prodigy, they put on a great show and have some great videos too.

Are you crazy? Detroit just by itself has created the greatest Dance music around since the 80s…Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Mad Mike Banks, Robert Hood then moving on to Drexiya, Moodymann, Carl Craig and the tons of other Underground Resistance affiliates. Then you have all the classic Chicago House producers who I won’t bother listing…The Prodigy have got absolutely nothing on above guys.

Hahaha, sorry, i forgot about all that stuff, i was thinking of 90s stuff of Prodigy-era like The Crystal Method and things like that.
Great albums, man. Sand are krautrock royalty and Golem is thir piece de resistance. The Brown Bunny soundtrack I can’t say enough about. A lot better than the actual film itself which was…oh boy.
Np:
Sonic Youth - A Thousand Leaves
Can - Tago Mago
Devo - Duty Now For The Future
Tangerine Dream - Zeit
FW are an acquired taste, to be sure. I really like No Exit and Perfect Symmetry albums. Other than those two I’m not overly familiar with their back catalogue.
There needs to be something to commemorate this thread reaching 5,000 posts, which is most likely going to happen soon.
Was going to make a special playlist of albums / bands with the number 5,000 in the title somewhere, but all I can think of now is Crass’ “Feeding of the 5,000” and Powerman 5000. Haven’t honestly listened to the first one in a while, and have never really listened to the second one.

According to what I see, this post (mine) is 5018.[/reply]
Well it looks like I’ll have to cancel the parade route, then, if different members are seeing different things. I wonder if maybe there’s a secret 18 posts that I’m not able to see since I’m not yet at God Member status. Hmm.
