The new Bauhaus album, ‘Go Away White’. It’s fucking awesome. A grower, for sure. But once you get into it, it’s a classic album.
Has anyone else heard this? It really deserves its own thread…

I’ve only listened to it a few times so far but I like it a lot. Too bad they’re gone once again.
Right now I’m listening to Laughing Clowns - Cruel But Fair, a 3 disc collection of all their output. They are an eclectic Australian post punk band featuring Ed Kuepper of The Saints.

The new cure’s grown on me quite a bit lately. If I had to describe it, i’d say it’s a bit “back to basics” for them. They make the album as if the three albums before it never happened, and comes off like a total follow-up to Wish. There’s a few elements of the latter albums (after-wish era), but it’s got some moments of Wish and Disintegration in there, but if I really had to compare it, i’d say it’s a current version of Wish. Hell, “The Only One” sounds like a newer version of “letter to elise” imo. Prety solid album, loses a little momentum towards the end, but it’s pretty good.
Heard The Cure’s ‘4:13 Dream’ for the first time last last night. I agree with the above that it’s kinda like a follow up to ‘Wish’. In fact I’ve been refering to it as ‘Wish 2’.
First track is great and a couple of the singles are decent…but it’s just not grabbing me for some reason. It just feels like an obligatory release, rather than something worthy of being a Cure release. Artistically it’s rather lacking and somewhat hollow and unconvincing - a bit like Morrissey’s recent output.
But I’m one of those purists who think the rot set in around the time of Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me!!
Main thing that disappoints me about this album is that it should’ve been a double album. It took so long for this album to come out, with so many delays, and the claims of much more “darker” material also. Allegedly, we might get another album by christmas, but i’m not holding my breath. The Cure is one of my favorite bands, but Robert Smith’s word isn’t too reliable… There’s songs that they’ve been playing, or at least were, that were fucking amazing “Boy I Never Knew” that didn’t even make this album, and there’s prolly a couple more that I can’t even think of right now, but supposedly there’s another album worth of “darker” material just laying around right now.
And to add onto my two cents about the album. It’s probably a fair assumption to say that this album is a good mix of their 2004 self-titled/wish/disintegration. But the only disintegration influence I really CATCH (pun intended!) is the first track (underneath the stars), which is reminiscent of Plainsong, the rest is very wish-y with a pinch of 2004-cure. Either way, it’s still a pretty good album.
mastered flowering blight. and it’s so heavy it hurts.

Still revisiting my Mode collection, and this morning I cranked FLA’s Tactical Neural Implant on the way in to work. TNI still sounds great after all these years.

TNI is still probably the best album of its kind imo. Ed can you at least tell us if Mr. Barker sings on this release? Or is it solely instrumentals?
flowering blight is not currently scheduled to tour. that could change, i guess. other players, josh freese, mat mitchell , kyle ellison. photo support by paul elledge. gotta go, daddio.
oh yeah, barker sings on every track–sorry for the delay there. and there’s a female singer for one song too.
