Almost thought I was listening to a Metallica B-side but looked up and found out they were one of the only two metal bands from Iraq. Pretty decent sounding.

Their story is really quite amazing and inspiring. There was a documentary done on them about 4 or 5 years back called “Heavy Metal in Baghdad” which I recommend to anyone, but especially metal fans.

They sucked on that documentary but I heard they got better over time.

David Bowie - Black Tie White Noise

Nowhere near as bad as it’s made out to be. Not quite a classic though. Probably the best album Bowie released since Scary Monsters.

Nobody’s Fool - Cinderella

Huge Broadrick phase currently.

Final - 3
Godflesh EP
The Blood of Heroes
Jesu - s/t and Heart Ache.

First time I really sat down and gave the older stuff a real listen. So much better. I love the Silver EP, but I enjoy the more drone-ish stuff. Which he’d bring that back.

I’m just putting Heartache on now!

I prefer the first Tin Machine to Black Tie…but as for an album with just the Bowie name it was definitely the best since Scary Monsters(even though it is a bit polished and slick)…those early/mid/late 80’s records were horrid…especially after the greatness that was Scary Monsters…Carlos Alomar’s guitar tone on that album is just visceral and scathing…fucking love it…

Animositisomina
Filth Pig

I’ve been away from my music collection for a bit. it’s good to blast my babies on a decent sound system for once.

I’ve got the 5.1 version of Animositisomina and it’s NUTS.

The smell of fear, the colour red.

I took my Mum to see Mark Stewart live here in Edinburgh for her 70th birthday. She was a big fan and bought his new album. I also gave her The Pop Group’s “Y” to go with it.

Mark Stewart rules.

Godflesh - Hymns

Tears For Fears
The Tear Garden

Mark Stewart rules.

Not sure if he “rules” as such, but I am definitely keen on hearing more Stewart. I’ve known about him for years as I had a friend who was a massive Pop Group fan, but only really ever dipped my toes in his back catalogue.

Edit was decent, but a lot of the more hardcore Stewart fans viewed it as something of a backwards step.

Interesting.

Much better than I thought it would be.

^^^ New OM is album of the year material for me. Some are complaining there isn’t enough fuzz-bass. As a big Grails fan I couldn’t be happier of the fusion of Cisnero’s vision and all the world music sound and eclectic instrumentation.

I’m really hoping they tour here Down Under.

Talk Talk - Laughing Stock

been listening to Godflesh ‘Songs of Love and Hate’

some great songs and hypnotic groove on there and some stuff a bit repetitive.

I appreciate the really raw production.

a few songs (“Circle of Shit”, “Almost Heaven”) stand out to me as some of the most unique and best in the band’s catalog…
