I’m listening to some freebie disc that came with some dodgy punk rock magazine called “Loud Fast Rules”. I couldn’t tell you who any of the bands or tracks are, with the exception of a few known names (Aggression, Vice Squad . . .).
I have like three of these. The magazine was like four or five bucks and you get like 20-30 songs on a disc. I don’t even read the magazine. I don’t know what’s cool anymore and don’t ever listen to any new bands, so crap that I get in magazines is the only way I ever find new bands (and that only happens every few years or so).
Through these sampler discs I’ve discovered . . . Dream Evil, Amon Amarth, Vice Squad, 3 Inches of Blood, Richard Hell, Runaways, and New York Dolls.
OK, so even half of the “new” things I discover are 30+ years old.
listening to the thunder outside and wondering why nothing has kicked my ass aside from jesu. so that’s it. ok. the cycle of, oh let’s call it art, continues. grab me some thirty seconds over tokyo and sleep.

Lucky!!! I love a good thunder storm. we rarely get them where I live. Maybe one a year, that lasts 20 minutes if were lucky.

I would love to listen to something I haven’t heard before. that’s a tough one for most. hm. not so much for me. i still think there are female artists out there aside from the icelandic one who can create a sound. i still think we are not in the bowels of music history, yet.although it kinda works that way. it goes in cycles. and all. give me new, or walk out of the picture.
have not paid attention much to the current crop of fems because it reminds me so much of mariah carey scraping her way to the top with tommy mattola, or whateverr his name is.

Janelle Monae is brilliant too is you like your music colourful.
Also…try Akron/Family. They rule. They aren’t female though.
