olsen - that joe preston solo record is some of my favourite shit ever, pure harrowing noise bliss followed by a lengthy tract of meaty doom! a great listen, a great companion to the eggnog ep.

Thrones Are OK. ‘Sperm Whale’ is liked bastardized Residents meets OLD meets Melvins with some escaped mental patient in charge of the drum machine. Hard stuff to get into.
If you ever have a party and can’t get some annoying guest to leave at 2am…chuck on ‘Sperm Whale’ and watch 'em head quite violently for the nearest exit.

Ha! It’s true, Thrones are an acquired taste. I’m a fan of early Residents so maybe thats why I dig it. Thrones does play off a bit like a heavy version of the “Tunes of Two Cities” album with a dash of Wendy Carlos thrown in. Once you do get into it there’s some rewarding stuff. For all it’s weirdness Sperm Whale has some fairly catchy (in an offbeat way) tracks like Nuts and Berries and Obolous.
speaking of the melvins… earlier this year there was a mention when nude boots came out, of a ipecac records box set of the stuff released of said label… anybody know what happened to that?
i DO know that saturday the senile animal limited vinyl w/ comic and belt buckle gets released… something like 300 only…
