What are you listening to right now?

Yeah, I saw that too. I don’t know if I necessarily believe it. It could just be the GOP using Nugent’s Ethos to get the rabid crazy base vaccinated. Kinda like Trump having covid. 2 days in Walter Reed… yeah, ok, the fuckin shot’s side effects last longer than that.

Anyway if good old ted is endorsing the reality of it maybe the crazies will get a shot and live long enough to vote in the next election.
Whether he has/had it or not the effect is the same. “HEY MORONS GET VACCINATED!”

Wait a minute. Wait just a minute there. I knew about the Vatican and the pedophiles but this whole mothership ship biz and now Voltron?!? This is waaaaaaay bigger than I had imagined.

I don’t know if the positions have changed but I’ve heard from multiple infectious disease experts (One of which was on Rogan last year) that there’s no way this came from a lab because of the extent of the intricacy of it. Not only that, the corona virus has existed in some form or another for forever.

I was skeptical at first but I when I learned that it’s more to cut down on you transmitting it than for you getting it I readjusted my stance.

Like what? what were they lying about? I haven’t heard about any misinformation… What were they forced to admit to lying about?

Unless youre talking about trump celebrating that he got the CDC (?) to readjust their briefs to what trump wanted it to say. Downl playing the problem… ?

I completely disagree with this. There is nothing wrong with the integrity of our elections and to entertain the notion that there is would be akin to giving a platform to flat Earthers to voice their “concerns.” There’s no such thing as a flat Earth and no matter what you tell them, no matter what evidence you present, they won’t believe you.

Same with our elections. Our elections have been legit for years now, The only thing close to a bad election was in 2000 when the Florida governor (Bush’s brother) and Kathleen Harris STOPPED the vote count to give it to W. That wasn’t a matter of ballot stuffing and voter fraud as it was a matter of Corrupt politicians and nepotism. And it wasn’t done in secret it was done for the whole world to see. And it’s on record so it’s not a conspiracy.

If you give these morons a platform to yell about “honest elections” it’s sets the false precedent that our elections are not honest. Which is bullshit. Committee after committee for years now have found NO irregularities with our national elections and when voter fraud is found it’s usually isolated cases of Repubs committing it.

It doesn’t matter what evidence you provide to them, just like the flat Earthers, they won’t believe it. So, why bother? All you really do is cheapen the discourse, lend credibility to lunacy, and change the focus away from real problems that need solutions. Like voter suppression (See florida 2000) and gerrymandering. So, until there’s actual evidence of voter fraud, Fuck the idea of having “discussions.” Leave that discussion to the internet and not waste any actual official time or money to it.

Yeah, that’s all of those people that who stormed the Capitol. People with “legitimate concerns and ideas” aren’t storming the Capitol… So, where are the people with “legitimate concerns and ideas” in that mob that you speak of? I mean, you can argue “the media is highlighting those people on purpose.” but when the reporters are live, and they are talking to people as they walk by and theyre spouting nuttiness off the cuff? It’s pretty safe to say those people weren’t pre screened for Q crazy nonsense.

I understand the heart of what you’re getting at, Gunnar. But it can’t start with these Q nuts and you can’t let them set the topics. They have to come back from crazy town before they can sit at the grown up table and have rational discussions with the grown ups. Because lets face it all that shit was and has been is a big ass temper tantrum.

I don’t have the exact timeline, but it went something like this…

  1. February / March - Fauci and his homies tell everyone NOT to wear masks. Unless they are N95, they don’t do anything, and it’s not helping.

  2. Shortly thereafter, masks were recommended for ALL, and many municipalities mandated them for many settings/ situations.

  3. Fauci recently admitted that he told people that masks were not helpful because they didn’t want people buying them before they could get PPE to the so-called “front line workers”.

  4. By June, when “mostly peaceful protests” ran rampant across the country, he was asked if these mass gatherings (with little to no social distancing and masking) could be another spreading of Covid since they met his own description of “super spreader” events. He ducked and dodged and said how free speech is important, blah blah blah. He looked like a total moron because he was afraid of assumed backlash if it looked like he was siding against protests or certain social movements. All he had to do, though, was say, “YES, they can spread viruses the same as a large sports event, picnic gathering, etc., but I understand the frustration of these people and respect their choice to take calculated risks to be heard.” Instead he looked like a complete dipshit who wants people to believe that the infectious risk of an event is a function of its political leaning.

Anyway, I was kind of a fan of Fauci early in the so-called pandemic. He seemed to be a straight shooter who calmly and respectfully laid out common sense ideas and best practices for us. But I soon lost all respect for the guy. I still listen to what he says because he’s an expert and very educated and intelligent, but I dig around a lot because (this goes for ALL “leaders”) he’s got bits of truth served in buckets of bullshit.

@grmpysmrf: Not sure if you watch Bill Maher, but even if you don’t like him, watch this clip from a recent episode. He had on a couple Evolutionary Biologists, to discuss the origin of COVID-19.

https://youtu.be/ZMGWLLDSA3c

Maybe it’s discussed also in that Bill Maher clip (I’ve heard at least portions of that episode, if not the whole thing but don’t remember specifics) but one thing I find really wacky is how the different theories of the virus’ origins got so “politicized”. By believing in or even allowing the possibility of the lab leak theory, one would get painted as right wing, conspiracist, and racist. Yet, how is the acceptance of a possible accidental lab leak LESS racist than pushing the stories of Asians eating bats and snakes in filthy “wet markets”? The bat narrative is so much grosser and when you look at it with enough distance, it is far too similar to some nasty Reich-era anti-Semitic propaganda that painted Jews as subhuman creatures with tails and horns looking to feast on babies and such.
The same so-called “side” that demands we believe that the virus jumped to humans when they were munching on poorly prepared bats and snakes are typically also applauding scholastic essays decrying the racism of “Indiana Jones in The Temple of Doom” for the dinner scene where Asians serve snakes and other culinary delights which shock our fragile Western sensibilities.

I don’t claim to know the origin of Covid-19, but I do know that its presence was first observed in Wuhan, China which “coincidentally” was also the location of the Wuhan Institute of Virology that was doing research and experiments on Coronaviruses and bats and such.

And when the World Health Organization sent so-called independent investigators to China to see what was up, their “investigation” consisted of just ASKING China something along the lines of “Was there was a lab leak?” The investigator(s) came back and proudly reported, “Well, they told us NO, so that’s that! Natural causes, follow the Science!”

It’s all just insane. And the numbers alone were appalling to me before I even gave any consideration to this shit possibly being a spilled petri dish in Dr. Frankenchine’s lab.

While literally the entire world started flaring up and bracing themselves, China basically declared success and flatlined their case reporting. That alone should have told people that shit’s not right. How did ground zero become a clean room virtually overnight? Either it was still a clusterfuck and they (as China always does) continued to lie about infections, OR . . . (and I’ve never actually heard this theory, so it’s a bit of JW’s thoughtful imagination) did they already have chemicals, compounds, medicines, etc. to eradicate the problem just that quickly? Either way, things just do not add up, and people shouldn’t be branded racist or crackpots for asking questions or pointing out major logical fallacies with accepting a narrative that comes from people who’s jobs depend on such narrative and who profit from it accordingly.

You’re right, I remember that. But I don’t think it was a secret, though. Maybe I’m misremembering but I remember him saying for us not wear masks in the beginning because it was causing a shortage and at the time the hospital workers needed them more than the public did because they were for sure working with covid patients while general public were maybe around covid at the time.

Yeah, but June was still under trump. trump who successfully got the cdc to change their reports to what he wanted. trump who openly talked about firing people (including fauci) if they didn’t say/do what he wanted. So, I’ll give Fauci. a pass on bullshit until he starts doing under biden.I’m gonna take the word of a 45+ year infectious disease expert’s career over some pundit/politician (see dumb ass rand paul)

I’m not really a big fan of maher but he does have a nugget here and there.
This is interesting, but I’m taking these two people with a grain of salt for now. This just seem to be these people making claims but not really offering anything other than conjecture. With Biology anything is on the table. Just because we “generally don’t see this” doesn’t mean it’s not possible. I’m not sure where he gets the "90% possible this came from a lab. They don’t offer much by way of an explanation a to why 90% is far more likely.
infectious disease experts are saying no way. This dude and his wife have a book to sell and a podcast to promote so might as well generate some controversy to help advertising. A quick google search shows the only one pushing the lab idea is trumps former cdc director.
I’m skeptical.

I don’t see the connection. Honestly, wet markets are a thing and what we consider gross here in the west isn’t necessarily gross in other places AND they don’t just sell bats at the wet markets. they sell all kinds of animals .

Engineering flus in the lab suggests nefarious intentions by the chinese. Do we have any evidence that they’re doing that? If we don’t we’re basically accusing the chinese of an act of war and crimes against humanity without any proof.

I don’t think that’s the same thing. The complaint with indy is that the dinner scene ONLY has those odd foods, when that culture also eats what the west would consider normal. So, the dinner scene could be considered racist because it’s showing the hindi people as substandard from “normal” humans who eat “normal” food. The dinner scene is basically used to mock the Hindi people not celebrate their culture. “look at what these nasty Kali Mah worshiper fuckers eat!”

Doesn’t that stand to reason then if they are researching the virus then the chances of transference would be higher there becaue of exposure? It seems like a wild jump to suggest research means engineering. Research generally means observations NOT manipulation/engineering doesn’t it?

Why are they “So-called?”

I find it hard to believe that that consisted of the whole investigation. Who told you that 's what they did?

Isn’t that what we did here too? Georgia’s rosy coronavirus data is a lie

We do the exact same thing as a country and as individuals. Something fucks up we immediately go to “It’s not my fault. I fixed it!” I’m not excusing China but to suggest that this is some kind of “par for the course when it comes to china” bullshit is just that, bullshit because everyone does this. I imagine if this came from the US the world would see similar behavior/reaction out of us.

Certainly, but when those questions that are asked or blame is assigned based on racist stereotypes it’s kinda hard not to point out the racism of it.
“Are the chinese engineering viruses? Everybody knows they’re sneaky.”
“China Virus” and “Kung flu” Certainly don’t help the matter.

What am I listening to right now?

I’ve been listening to Fucked Up, too. TRYING REALLY HARD. REALLY HARD. To like them. It hasn’t happened yet. The music is brilliant, but then Damian Abraham comes on the mic, and it becomes impossible to listen to. Imagine Phil Anselmo fronting Fugazi and you get a bit of what I’m suffering through.

David peel and the lower east side - Have a marijuana.
Recorded at washington square park n.y. late 60’s early '70’s.
This is how you protest for pot (unheard of then), claim youre recording an album instead.
This was also the 1st time weed was on a album cover (electra records).
All of david peels stuff is a riot.

In honor of Trent Reznor’s awkward appearance at the Oscars (cut that hair, hippie), I’ve been listening to the last 3 NIN EPs (they make up one large album, apparently, that I have named “Cold + Black + Infinite” after a lyric from the first song). They really are very, very good. I don’t know how to put it… it sounds very “post-NIN.” Some of the songs have a level of maturity that I couldn’t see Reznor as being capable of back in the first decade of the 2000s. The only weak spot? The Bowie impersonations on the third disc, “Bad Witch.” Memo to Trent: Liking Bowie doesn’t mean you are Bowie.
