Well it seems Rey Washam hates Al now too...

"-So what was Al Jourgensen like to work with? Was he as unpleasant as people have made him out to be?

-Mark, I’m not going to talk shit about people.

-Oh, okay.

-So I can’t really say anything about him.

-What were the good things about working with Al Jourgensen?

-(silence)

-…Let’s move along."

Al, Trent…even david lee…we all know artists are fucked up…I’m glad Al is who he is [unimpressed]

Tommy Victor isn’t the easiest to work with either, from what I hear.

We need to start a pool as to what date Tommy Victor will come down with the flu and have to miss the remainder of the tour. wink wink

Well, Washem was the drummer during the really messed up mid-90s junkie era, right?
I wonder if it’s different now.

Actually in the interview he mentioned he worked on Houses for a bit, and totall slagged the album while he was at it.

Ray is a kick ass drummer. I know everyone laments Reiflins depature but Washam brought a really unique sound to Ministry as well, slightly more complex rhythyms than Reiflen was capable of it seems to me.

heh…the comments left at the bottom of the jourgensen interview on the same site are quite revealing and funny…

"The head of the cleaning staff was on sick leave and her daughter took over for her…so the whole studio complex was a little messy.

The one thing I could say is “what a bunch of babies.” Really spoiled, really weird…

We used the same towels for a week…I made a joke about saving Paul from using dirty towels.

AL flipped out at me for suggesting to Paul Barker that I had “dibs on the towels”–this set Al off completely. “You ain’t got dibs on NOTHIN’! We’re Ministry and we paid for all of this!” rah rah rah etc."

[laugh]

That is funny. Al seems a little on the bipolar side…

There is more to the story than what that kid posted. He posted the same message on PA over and over again. Nuisance.

Firstly, he showed up at the Ranch, when he wasn’t really invited. He just showed up - no warning, no nothing. The owner of Ranch Studios was there before Ministry even showed up from the tour, and didn’t know what was up, so he put him up there, thinking he was Ministry’s close friend or something.

So he crashed there without invitation. I can see Al’s irritation towards him - he wasn’t invited and kept distracting them.

From my personal experience at the studio, and I’m not just saying this (honestly)… Al was very polite and decent with the cooks who would make food for the musicians (with their special mole sauce). He was also generous to two kids who volunteered their time to work on the studio.

The airport was an hour away from the studio. I didn’t want to bother them so I figured I would rent a car and drive there. Instead, Angie, Al and Scaccia insisted on picking me up, which they did.

Al made sure I was content with everything and put me up in Paul’s room. They treated me well with food and drinks and their time (they took the whole crew and band out for steaks at a very good steakhouse). Al took me on quite the drive around the studio, the next morning - something I didn’t even expect.

Even after that visit, when Fish and I caught up with them in Rochester, NY, they treated us to a special Thanksgiving dinner, when they didn’t have to. Scaccia paid our covers for a bar as well as the drinks. They were all extremely generous. That night in Rochester, they even let us crash in their hotel rooms, which Fish and I didn’t pay for.

I have nothing bad to say about the trip. Not only that, but when I arrived, Al kind of took a break from recording for a few days. This is already after he was past the deadline with the studio. In fact, having me there at that time, was something in itself.

So my experience was very pleasurable. But I was invited, unlike that guy who just showed up…

Thanks for setting that straight, Afra. Just to be clear I was in no way implying that everything said by that individual was fact when I posted that link. I just thought it was a humorous take on life on the ranch. Al is known for being rather cantankerous, so it didn’t seem too outrageous or farfetched…but the story becomes a little clearer with you filling in some of the blanks.

It wasn’t The Salt Lick was it? The only time I’ve been in the area that is where we went (for my cousin’s wedding rehearsal). I wasn’t too impressed by anything but the spicy kielbasa and the awesome mashed potatoes with mustard powder or something in them. Man am I hungry.[:P]

Cattleman’s or something like that, in El Paso…
