We Love You AL

[reply][reply][reply]Twitch was Sherwood, anything good since was the Book Club. Poorgensen only revealed himself on the butt end of the Bush Trilogy.

Fact.

Oh please…[/reply]

The irony is crushing

These fucking Al is great/Al is a dick threads are completely pointless. Do people not get sick of writing the same shit over and over?

I make my myself sick now and then but at least I’m not like Israel and I can pull out when necessary.

The truth is whenever there’s activity in the nu-Ministry camp these days it has an adverse effect on this place. There is a correlatory decline in quality around here when a hot new Ministry album is on the scene.

Congrats, Uncle J. You won, you cunt. You and your fake joint and desperate need to be an ‘Uncle’[/reply]

…what? I have been using this forum for years and believe me I’ve had more than my share of negative things to say about Al’s recent work. I’m no fanboy…far from it…

The last album I really enjoyed or even listened to in full was ‘Houses of the Mole’ if that says anything…

I was just kind of drunk digging on some Ministry stuff yesterday and figured “you know what, despite all the bullshit, Al is a cool motherfucker and I’m grateful for the music he helmed”

I have no illusions that Al wrote and played everything I love and all that. I give the Book Club their due. But Al was the one spearheading things and his charisma is undeniable and a huge part of the band.

I don’t know what this chip on your shoulder is but if you truly hate Al and Ministry so much, why are you around?[/reply]

Probably because I thought prongs was more than just Ministry, but that seems to be less the case now so I’ll probably buzz off eventually

For the record I don’t hate Al, I just severely dislike him now [laugh] It’s hard (and quite stupid) to hate someone who hasn’t actively and deliberately caused you harm.

When he could make great music you could overlook the fact that he was a little boy acting out on his insecurities like all these other rock star dicks. But when his music is shit… a spade is just a spade.

But on the topic of these sort of threads (and Gunnar just because the thread title doesn’t explicitly state ‘Al is great’ or ‘Al is a dick’ doesn’t mean a bunch of threads go down this Al loving/Al bashing route) I just can’t abide the same stuff being said over and over again. I find it dumbed down and boringly self indulgent to just go on and on about “I love Al because of …”/“I hate Al because of…”

Look I’m probably just going solo on this one but I’ve reached absolute fatigue of the Al-centred discussions (knowing full well that I have actively contributed to the boredom)

I can’t hold back the tide and there’s tens of other posters who seem to enjoy it here at present so I’ll butt out. I’ll park my ass somewhere else.

I don’t care for Al myself, haven’t cared for anything really that Ministry has put out post-Barker, and have hated the last couple of albums. But goddamn, man. Calm down.

This place has been a big giant bitch fest lately…lot’s of overly sensitive moaning and bickering and accusatory shit…jesus fucking Christ…change the name to dramaqueens.org

HAHAHA! What queer said. Quite entertaining though.

Anyway, made this gif. Late eighties era Ministry was my favorite. Al was a gross cowboy industrial goth alien guy… they don’t make em like that anymore.

^
Yep, that’s the Al that brought me into the fold.

Hello…you forgot Styles from Teenwolf?!

Styles was the MAN…awesome t-shirts, great sense of humor, life of the party.

Hello…you forgot Styles from Teenwolf?!

This one is actually true.
Thanks, Akbar!

Stiles was a MAJOR hero of mine. “Teen Wolf” is a hugely important film for me, regardless, but Stiles, specifically, made a massive impression on me. I remember thinking, “Damn, how can one guy be so friggin’ awesome! When I grow up I want to be as awesome as Stiles!”. I dreamed of van surfing and coordinating party games where I would poor bowls of jello down bimbos’ shirts. And I wanted to have totally rad sunglasses and shirts that said stuff like “What Are You Looking At, DICKNOSE!!??”

Stiles was the man!

I do love Al. Him and Trent were my first exposure to Industrial music. It was fun back in the day…1989 to find all of Al’s releases and the nicknames behind each musician. It was so different, catchy and just fucked up music. Right up my alley as a freshman in college. I miss the creativity back in the late 80’s-90’s.
