I think most of those Wall St. protesters simply have nothing better to do.
They had a group of them in front of the courthouse where the Dr. Murray/ Michael Jackson circus is taking place. They were completely clueless jackasses with no cohesive statement, mission, or argument. They’ll achieve absolutely nothing and no one will care.
The unemployed and unemployable who have nothing better to do?
You are right about the lack of a unified protest message. I’m not sure if it was the $5 fee or not; I was driving and could not read all the signs from the far left lane as I was forced to turn left due to the street being closed off for the HRC’s 40th anniversary party. They were all the way to the right on the sidewalk.
The unemployed and unemployable who have nothing better to do?
Honestly, I think it’s just bored hippy slackers than anything else. They get some sort of justification for their existence by blindly joining causes, regardless of whether they understand or can explain what that cause is or how what they are doing would make a difference. Where I went to college 15 years ago these turds were a dime a dozen and you could barely walk 50 feet in any direction without them coming up to you with a clip board and pen.
“Can you sign our petition to stop the republicans from ruining the environment?”
“How are they ruining the environment?”
“Newt Gingrich and the fat cats are trying to ruin the ozone layer and want to pollute the water . . .”
“Really? Why would they want to do that?”
“Because they’re against democracy.”
“Come on. That doesn’t even make any sense. What benefit to them is there if they kill the ozone layer and pollute the water?”
“Uhhh, they’re really racist.”
“And this petition does what now?”
They’d eventually get really frustrated with me. “Are you gonna sign the petition or not?” But I always thought it was retarded that someone would waste their time walking around with a clipboard for something that they didn’t understand and couldn’t explain.
I was like “I have no idea what this is all about. I’m just holding the sign.”
That’s awesome! You should have just said, “I’m not political. I just wanna be on TV.”
There’s some pics in our family photo album of my sister and I ages 14 and 16, probably, holding signs that say, “Ollie North, Go To Jail!” and some other stuff. We were on family vacation in Sacramento and there was a protest. My mom told us to go borrow some signs and march around for a while so she could take some photos.
One of these days I’ll get my 1996 election TV spot uploaded to YouTube. I saw a newsman with camera and I ran to get a piece of the action. When asked by the reporter, “Is there anything that turns you on about this election?” I answered the greatest nothing response of my carreer . . . “Nothing really turns me on about this election. But it’s good to see people getting involved.” HAHAHAHA!!! Of course my soundbite made it to airing and I had watched the entire news show with my VCR just in case I’d made the cut.
