So, I saw a second Prieboy concert on Thursday night. I brought my father with me this time. He also
Bruce Moreland was there again and he kind of rolled his eyes a bit when I saw him so I think he may have regretted sitting too close to me last time.
During the show Andy told a story about how his 80 year old father whom he never got along with so well and gambled away all his money had gotten a leather jacket from one of the casinos and he was convinced this was a ROCKSTAR jacket and that Andy should have it so he could properly dress the part. He then retrieves this hideous, red, blue, white, gold, and every other color of the shit rainbow jacket which is adorned with all these gambling clichés . . . . cards, dice, chips, cash, etc. He put it on once and proclaimed sarcastically, “Pretty fuckin’ badass, huh?” He stated he would never again put on that jacket and proceeded to state that, while he is typically notoriously camera shy and does not allow pictures he would allow photos for people tonight . . . IF THEY WORE THE JACKET. Well, you can bet your ass I took him up on that offer, as did a good handful of others too.
This isn’t a complete list, but it’s what I can recall and name . . .
Every Lady Gets a Song
Wasn’t That a Time
Tomorrow Wendy
Back of the Laundromat

How’s About A Song Like This?
You don’t know what you are talking about. Don’t you watch the Revenge video. He’s rolling his eyes because he’s on the H…Ewww
Yeah . . . and one of my offenses committed the first time was that I had to piss during the show and tried to duck out for a quick squirt. I was sitting front center, though, and he made some smartass quips about it and before the 2nd show he put up a comment that it’s theatre seating so “go potty before the show”. I felt relieved (no pun intended) when a few other dudes got ridiculed for the same offence at Thursday’s show. He wasn’t really mean about it, just kind of made it another joke as part of the show, so maybe he wasn’t as pissed as I originally thought.
The best news of the evening was that he’s extending his residency . . . and will have two more gigs in September and October respectively. It’s a lot of fun.
Check out these bootleg buttons I bought off Ebay from a gal in Hong Kong. They’re totally badass.
Damn! Yes, W.O.V. were amazing. Index Masters, Dark Continent (best album ever just about), Call of the West, Early Stanard solo, RIP Marc and Joe, too…Nice to hear some taste for a change, Gunnar! I did see Stan back in '89; F’ing great.

Andy’s lookin’ good too! I need more post Stan Voodo as well.

It’s a really different vibe but SUPER cool. Whereas the Stan stuff was kind of quirky and had a real goofy, almost cartoon aspect to a bunch of it, the Andy stuff has a much darker, serious, and introspective vibe to it. It still has some humor but the overall message and musical feel just seems a lot deeper and emotionally true to me.

Spot on. I do have (somewhere on tape) “Ugly Americans” and i think “Sammystown” on record.
Did you ever hear the “Pretty and Twisted” album?
Marc Moreland and Johnette N. (SP?) from Concrete Blonde? Sad, Marc (and Joe N.) were so talented.

I did have the Pretty and Twisted album at one time, but don’t remember a whole lot memorable about it. I also had “Department of Crooks” (another thing with Marc Moreland) and some other random offshoot projects.
“Sammystown” is one of my all time favorite albums of all time. Pick up Andy’s second solo album if you can. It’s called “Sins of Our Fathers” and is just amazing.
Stan Ridgway’s solo stuff was really excellent for a while but sometime around 2000 or so (“Anatomy” was likely the last decent thing he did) it just drove straight into the toilet. And he became such an opportunist cash-gobbling prick too. He has some crappy independent labels and brands (Birdcage being the main one I can recall) that put out an ungodly number of sub-par noodlings and also press a CD of just about every damn stupid barroom concert he’s ever done. It’s quantity over quality, big time.
Anyway . . . glad to catch another Wall of Voodoo fan!
