Virus Detected

There have been certain threads in this forum lately that have set off my antivirus alert whenever opened. I’m getting the “caution a virus has been detected”.

These threads all set off the virus detected alert:

Digimix - online audio track editing and building
With Sympathy
Interesting Drumming
New Pics of Al.
Brian Shanley (designer) and “Critter” (engineer)
NIN Rehearsal

There might be some more. I was wondering if anyone knows why these threads might have a virus. Anyone else getting the same?

Thats purty weird there dude, I’ve never gotten any sort of threat alert whatsoever from anything on this site.

If it were the Piss Army trying to fuck us they would have done it a LONG time a-go. [:)]

I assure you there are no viruses on this forum. It’s just text and images.

killface - what anti-virus program are you using?

I’ve been using AVG with no problems for the past few years, the free copy! How would you nerds rate AVG? (no nerd-slur intended, I’m a geek myself).

Avast.

Getting the same Virus messages at my work too…

I just ignore them…I figured it has something to do with the attached pictures.

me too but @ home.

i’m running avast on this pc, and it doesn’t seem to like RevCo’s Avatar. i get an alert, then it blocks his avatar. when i right click and hit “show picture”, it once again registers the .jpg as a virus. strange.

i have been browsing the PA since it’s inception, (DST and after the move) and have yet to encounter a virus through it.

i would recommend, if you’re having virus issues, a few small tips to help avoid them:

1-switch to Firefox, it has “less” vulnerabilities, Internet Explorer is notorious for having vulnerabilities/security holes. (you’ll end up having to keep internet explorer installed for the few sites that don’t play well with Firefox.)
2-keep Windows up to date (if you’re running it)
3-use an ad-blocker (if using firefox, ad-block plus is a great add on for this. many viruses and keyloggers nowadays can be contracted just through banner ads some sites. sometimes you don’t even have to click on them, just have them load into your browser and yer infected if you’re running out of date software.)

or if you’re feeling saucy/adventurous

4-switch to linux/mac. virtually no viruses are written for these formats comparatively.

The funny part is that now this thread is giving me the virus alert.

I’ve changed it.
