Vampire Rodents - New Album!

Don’t know how many people around here are familiar with these guys but they’ve been a favorite of mine for a LONG time. Vampire Rodents were an industrial/sound collage band that blended classical, post-punk, big band, electronic, ambient and house. Their first few albums kind of reminded me of JG Thirwell’s Steroid Maximus material or 90s-era Foetus meets Skinny Puppy complete with gruesome samples. They took a more electro-industrial approach for their last two albums and collaborated with a ton of bands active around that time like Chemlab, 16volt, SMP and Babyland. I always thought they would get a break (especially those last two albums), but it sadly wasn’t to be. Anyways, apparently they’re back releasing new material on their youtube channel where they’ve also posted THEIR ENTIRE DISCOGRAPHY! Here’s some samples from their channel:

“Core” From Gravity’s Rim (1996)

“Zygote” From Clockseed (1995)

“Clueless” From the new album

I checked out the youtube channel and they’ve got a lot of unreleased tracks on there too. Including that track with Society Burning that was on the tracklisting to Gravity’s Rim but got left off for space. I always felt cheated that not only was a track left off, but it was one of the ones with a SoBu guest spot on it. I just wish they’d have a proper audio release of this stuff. I’d gladly pay for one of these unreleased albums. Ripping audio off youtube is going to be a pain.

Finally released today on bandcamp!

Sweet! Too bad it’s only instrumental, but so far it still sounds great.
