When I first heard this story yesterday as Breaking News, I wondered who the fuck would have the balls to shoot up Fort Hood, so I immediately thought it was terrorists.
I heard the guy was about to be shipped to war and didnt want to kill fellow muslims.

Ed is right. Hardly a top dog. Military doctors are given rank when they start out but its mostly so that they have a higher pay grade. They don’t command over anyone except their office staff.[/reply]
They are given lieutenant, no? Major is to grades above that, so not really the bottom either. you generally don’t hear of officers going nuts though, I think is the point.
If he was being shipped out to war he wouldn’t be killing. As a psychiatrist, he would probably still be a Dr. of mental health (See Sydney Friedman of MAS*H fame)
I read a headline on cnn that he was upgraded to stable condition. and a story that he was extremely calm while destroying lives. (makes me give pause to the manchurian candidate consiparcy again)
