Huge fan as well…I love all of their stuff…I’ll always have a soft spot for World Coming Down even though it is their bleakest and most humorless record…it’s just so monolithically heavy and dynamic…
Yknow I never listened to T.O. beyond Bloody Kisses, and I disliked it but then again I also heard Filth Pig at the same time and disliked it, so I should give their records another spin. I always liked that they were tongue in cheek, and I also used to live in the part of Brooklyn they were from - which was a shithole btw
Bloody Kisses was cool, but it’s kinda overrated. My favorite will always be October Rust. It had “Love You To Deth,” “Of Wolf Moon,” and their brilliant cover of Neil Young’s “Cinnamon Girl.” Those 3 are my all time faves. I used to have a World Coming Down shirt, though the only song I know from it is “Everyone I Love Is Dead.” I kinda fell out of Type-O after things with this chick didn’t work out. Their music reminded me too much of her. I’m long over that now so maybe I’ll add them to my download list.
Spun World coming down in honor of this thread today. Everyone I love is dead is probably my favorite track from that disc.
I liked bloody kisses for the novelty of it but when it comes down to it I only really cared for Black No. 1 and Summer Breeze on that album… wonder what seals and croft think of their song being bad ass now.
Late,

bloody kisses is an amazing album. ‘death in the family’ makes me almost cry each time i hear it…
but World Coming Down is the bleakest album around. haha. i really, REALLY love that one. in fact, i think all their albums are first class except fro Life Is Killing Me. that is the only one where there are songs i dont really care about either way. but it does have We Were Electrocute and I Dont Wanna Be Me. and fucking Dead Again was BRILLIANT… i wish they could have had a follow up…
i can get behind the lyrics pretty solidly in that band. especially with songs like Pyretta Blaze, I Dont Wanna Be Me, Death In The Family, Love You To Death, September Sun…
World Coming Down is soooo much more than Everyone I Love is Dead…it’s an incredible song but the album has so much more to offer…it’s truly meant to be heard as an entire piece of work and it delivers…it’s cohesive and follows a loose story line involving death and heartache…an immense piece of work…
Type O is one of those bands that bands that may not immediatley click but once it does, watch out…they have an incredible self-deprecating,self-aware Brooklyn sense of humour and they never wavered or gave in to trends…I could write books on their harmonies alone…they use repetition to create space in their music yet they use that space to create amazing soundscapes…and Peter’s vocals were one of a kind, totally unlike anything else out there…and he punished that bass…
If you havn’t heard them you might want to give them a chance…if you only kinda tuned in you might want to re-visit them…there is a lot to love there…Peter’s death was one of the rock n roll death’s that really deeply affected me…he was a true original…
The first album title for ‘World Coming Down’ was ‘Give Pete a Chance’
Type O were the 90s. WCD is a flawed giant and ‘October Rust’ still ranks as gold ever since the day I bought it (on a black cassette).
I can still dig ‘Bloody Kisses’ and the non album tracks from the ‘Least Worst of’ compilation that were around WCD time are great.
What I love about October Rust is that it’s such a deliberate sell-out. “Hey, the goth chicks loved Christian Woman and Black No. 1 - think of what we could sell if we did a whole album that sounds like that!”
But it fucking WORKED.
peter steels 1st band Fallout was pretty cool as well.
if your a die hard fan of his…[cool]
Fallout and Carnivore were both killer bands…
Type O is/was one of my favorite bands ever. I owe them for indirectly getting me into Ministry, and finding this place.
I’ve grown to like their gothy stuff a bit less than I used to, but SD&H, World Coming Down, and the B-sides on Least Worst Of are tops. And I’m gonna shake things up a bit and say that Dead Again was the best they’ve ever done.
My buddy in the Navy called me up the morning that Pete died and gave me the news. I didn’t believe him at first, considering they did something similar a few years back, but when I found out it was legit, I was HELLA bummed out for a minute.
Wore a WCD shirt to literal tatters. Finally retired it a couple of years ago. I should frame it or something.
T-O-N are a big fave with son #2. Also worth noting that Mrs. Roberts’ maiden name is Ratajczyk…same as Steele’s real name.
One of the first bands I ever got into. I was very lucky to see them multiple times in concert. Peter Steele looked like a goddamn yeti in person, towering over everyone.

I’ve seen Steele’s Playgirl pics.
Ratajczyk’s have good genes…

It’s that high-cheekbone, thin face, but dark and mysterious kinda look.
