Never watched but I did catch wind of ‘The Nine Inch Nails’ making an appearance HAHA! Thought that was a cool performance though. Amazing song.
Maybe David Lynch just isn’t the right director for you guys.
Lynch is one of my favorite film makers…Blue Velvet,Eraserhead,Mullholand Dr,Inland Empire and Lost Highway are some of my favorite friends…I am enjoying this re-boot of Twin Peaks…my only real critique has been the dragging on of the Agent Cooper/Dougy story line…it got a bit ponderous…aside from that I am having a blast watching this show.
.
[reply]The Walking Dead has become absolutely unbearable…I will take Twin Peaks over that show any day of the week…
Oh yeah the walking dead has become so bad my wife and i pretty much MST3K all the way through it. What astounds me is the comic is still rather good. How is it that Kirkman can move his story along in the comics in roughly 20 pages a month way more than scott gimple can run 4 hours a month using the same source material? Kirkman has clearly lost control of his show to shitty hollywood execs.[/reply]
I’m right there with you on the Walking Dead. I think I’m done watching it as it comes out, I’ll just wait until it hits Netflix.
Speaking of MST3K, have you watched the new one yet? I watched the first couple of episodes, good stuff.

seemed to pick up where the older one left off. It was decent. certainly didn’t lose anything.
I actually prefer the new MST3K to the Sci-Fi Channel years.
Hi! … … Jade give two rides.
I recently re-watched this and liked it even better the second time around…
I’m about 2/3rds through Season 2. it’s starting to go a little wobbly but I’m gonna stick with it.
Season 2 had some really lame story arcs which could’ve been completely aced to make for a better run, but it’s pretty cool how they wrap it all up at the end.
James and that stupid grifter couple with the classic car was such a waste of time.
If I can get it cheap on DVD maybe I’ll give “The Return” another shot some day, but it just sent me into a fiery rage the first time, haha!
I’m not digging the Ben Horne/Civil War thing either. Seems like it really falls apart after the death of Leland Palmer, which was great. I think I’m at about the same place I stopped watching all those years ago, probably because of the very same reasons we’ve just brought up. But happy to hear it gets better.
Uggghhh, more shitty arcs than we can even list, haha. There’s also…
Gordon and Annie (I think that’s her name - Heather Graham/ the nun chick).
Audrey and Billy Zane
SPOILER ALERT!
Season 1 is great.
Season 2 is a season of two halves. The first half is a straight continuation of season 1. Then halfway through season 2, they solve Laura’s Murder. But we’ve still got half a season to go. So it fills in the second half with multiple new side-plots featuring minor characters that the viewer just doesn’t care about.
This actually happened due to pressure from the Network. They were breathing down Frost and Lynch’s necks telling them to solve the murder already, it was getting too confusing for the viewers. Their original intention was to keep season 2 on Laura right to the end, and then never really explain what happened, only leave clues. But the Network essentially told them they had to hurry it along and dumb it down.
I watched Season 3 and for me it’s basically a beautiful piece of surrealist video art. I really didn’t understand what was happening, and I did understand the original.
Yeah on further evaluation i actually think season 3 is a masterpiece…it has all the things i love about Lynch in one giant stroke of surrealist genius…the amazing composition and pacing and the acting and sets and so on…and that fucking sound design…wow…stunning work…
I want to watch Season 1, Season 2, Fire Walk With Me (on DVD with the huge number of deleted scenes) and Season 3 in a big binge but I don’t want to sit through the tedium of Season 2’s Civil War reenactments or middle aged ladies getting amnesia and superhuman strength.
I think the deleted scenes on FWWM DVD is the only thing in the Twin Peaks universe I haven’t seen…have watched the film at least 5 times but never saw the deleted stuff…is that DVD even in print? I remember looking once and it was fetching a high price…pretty sure its easy enough to find them online(like every fucking thing under the sun)…but I’m old fashioned, what can I say…
It’s on Amazon in various formats. And there are some packs called “complete series” that have “every episode” AND FWWM, but I’m not sure if that includes “The Return”. I’ll go back and see what year those were.
Be careful with purchase of any box set / collection of any Twin Peaks stuff. There are so many differing versions and some of them say “complete season” but omit the pilot episode which makes it very INCOMPLETE and completely fucking retarded. It’s easy to get burned out just trying to figure what all this shit is, but the customer reviews/feedback is usually very helpful.
The Criterion Blu-Ray, which includes the 90 minute “Missing Pieces” collection of deleted scenes, is $24 on Amazon.
Funny this was mentioned as my friend just bought the series.
I just ordered this:
Twin Peaks - The Original Series (Fire Walk With Me & The Missing Pieces) (Blu-ray) (9 discs)
