Ministry-Supermaniac_Soul_(Demo_Version)…heard this one but I do like the samples.
-
Ministry-Work_For_Love_(Live_84) Excellent recording…the beginning has somewhat a transition feel to what became the next phase of Ministry.
-
Revolting_Cocks-Drums_Along_The_Carbide…didn’t know about this one…grab it!
-
Ministry-Eureka_Pile_(Live_99)…DSOTS
WFL…The fade in & out…I’m no editor but couldn’t you of combined the two to have a very little interruption of the song?
Yeah, interesting transitional piece. I like the guitar in the second half, but I do wonder that fade out was about. Is this from a boot cd that automatically seperates the tracks?
Supermanic Soul - Yeah, this one’s in circulation already, as will be a few of the other songs this year. It’s a sacrifice I had to make to have them rotate every week.
Work For Love - The song is cut from what I guess is a tape flip from while recording. It sounds like someone along the way made it fade out rather than a hard ending. Normally I’d be able to make it a seamless transition, but it comes back in during the bridge instead of a repeated part (ie the chorus), so there’s no real way to put them together. There are several seconds missing from the recording that can’t be replaced.
"There are several seconds missing from the recording that can’t be replaced. "
yeah…i heard that…oh well…thanks anyway[laugh]
Which lineup performed this version of “Work for Love”? Sounds like the same version as the one in the 1983 Minneapolis live video - the extended intro sounds like the “Work for Love” dub mix on the promotional 12" single.
This is outstanding. Alain’s voice sounds great. Think he can still hit those notes?
It sounds like the same backing tape (samplers were not yet popular back then) from the '83 WS Tour. The intro and the tinkly keyboards parts sound the same as the '83 MPLS show. Same goes for the female BG vocals at the end.
The players were not the same. Pothier and Roberts would not have been around. Sounds like Stevo playing drums though.
Yeah, this would have been:
Al - vocals
Steveo - drums
Brad Hallen - bass
Patty J - keyboards
John Seroka - keyboards
Yvonne Gage - female vocals
Though I don’t have the exact date on this one, so it could be Doug Chamberlin on keyboards instead of John.

Any idea where to pick up that video? You and me and the moderators (and perhaps some others in hiding) are the only hardcore ‘early days’ fans I’ve seen around - I find that people don’t want to share that kind of stuff, even if they have it, out of sheer embarrassment. I’d surely pay some hard earned dough for a copy of that video! And as for the hitting of those notes? No, sir. Absolutely not.

Don’t know about that… He can carry a tune, listen to his acoustic work (e.g. Friend of the Devil). Granted that was several years ago, but I bet he can still pull a eunuch. I’d be interested to hear the Buck album if and when it ever comes out.
Yeah, I’d go for some Buck Satan. The Bridge School thing was 10 or 11 years ago, though. Who knows?
I appreciate early Ministry, but I’m a fan of new wave music, so that’s probably why. Twitch is probably my favorite Ministry album, though.
i was hoping to see the rest dark side of the spoon demos. i miss quite a few of them… please?
or at least
eureka pile
step (regular, not ‘12 inch’/‘long’ version)
of all the dsots demos i miss it’s these two.
also i have a question:
did that demo tape contain radio edit of bad blood and ‘extended versions’ of nursing home and step too?
I don’t have them on me, but to my knowledge the only demos that were different than the original LP versions were “Supermanic Soul” and “Step”. COuld be wrong though.
the different is only one - supermanic soul, which has some samples in the beginning and in the ‘solo’ part.
however, there were two extended versions of songs ‘step’ and ‘nursing home’. which are very cool, sad that we don’t get them in cd studio quality on some singles (or rantology could have them instead of tracks from sphinctour ffs).
did anyone notice that y. gage in the line up (84)did vox on dark spoon ?
p.s. pigmata daddy likes a bit

I found the 1983 Minneapolis video on eBay about 5 years ago. It was advertised as 1984 Chicago on the auction. It was a terrible 20th generation copy, and my VCR struggles mightily to play it without major tracking problems.
From what I can tell, it was a multi-camera angle professionally shot video with direct soundboard audio. “So So Life” goes straight into a remixed version of “Revenge”. One of the keyboardists looks like he’s sporting a Flock of Seagulls era hairdo. Alain has this hat thing going. It’s a relic. A must have for a fan of that era. When compared to the 1992 Lollapalooza performance, it is really hard to believe. A metamorphosis like no other.
yes, i believe that is minneapolis '83 vid. they even have female backing vox on some song. yes, it’s a relic and i wish descent quality copy would surface.
I like the RevCo remix, I remember seeing it listed in the back issues section of Relfelx magazine but I never got around to ordering the issue. Not amazingly different than the two album versions, but cool all the same.
'ello old school prong people…so how about a greatest hit’s song of the every couple day’s i sure would like to have a saved version of “Eyes of Christ” or get to hear “Over the Shoulder(live)” how bout it…Also how about “Noreen” i lost my disc with this song on it and can’t remember how it sounds
P.S. What ever happened to Rodent
