Glad you dig it…figured you would if you ever got around to seeing it…still no word on the new cast, although they did confirm there will be three leads for the new season…also heard some rumors that Brad Pitt might be cast but nothing etched in stone as of yet…
I’ve heard rumors. . .Brad Pitt. . .Jessica Chastain. . .Jeremy Renner. . .
I guess Renner recently shot them down. But that’s also a negotiating tactic, so we’ll see.
This one will be shot in California though, but not the usual LA. They’re looking for a dusty little town to get the atmosphere they got with backwoods Louisiana.
Probably somewhere out by Gunnar or Grmpy.

That backwoods, sprawling openness isn’t really anywhere down this way, though. I don’t know how logistically feasible it is, but they would likely want something up by Bakersfield or going further . . . Fresno area. Something with more agricultural roots.
Even out where I am we’re pretty urbanized. North on 15 . . . Barstow, Hesperia, etc. . . . maybe. I guess it depends on what kind of vibe they’re going for. But for trying to stay consistent with the first series . . . just get on the 5 and drive for a couple hours.
Barstow is pretty desolate.
I had to stay in Barstow once for work. It was pretty desolate.
Hell, the McDonald’s in in a burnt out railroad car.
^
That’s not just a McDonald’s, Bro! It’s BARSTOW STATION (and as the radio jingle goes . . . “a great family destination”).
Where else can you get a your kids a Happy Meal and then walk 5 feet to the left and buy a “Show Your Tits” trucker hat and an Ed Hardy bong?
Ha! Yeah, I had to eat and buy my booze there. I was staying at the hotel on the other side of the highway and it was an easy walk.
I grew up there. graduated from Barstow High in 1994. I do not live there anymore. That place is horrible.
This show is gonna give me a damn heart attack.
The first three episodes were creepy and tense.
But now . . . (I think I’m watching #6 now) I feel like I’m gonna crap my pants.
Well, that didn’t take long.
3 days and I’m done with the series.
There was only 8 episodes, but, damn.
I always feel a bit empty and sad when I get into a new program only to run out of material to watch.
The set was $40, so I guess $5 an episode ain’t too bad. I guess I’m back to watching “Leave it to Beaver” now.

How did you like the insane 7 minute uncut sequence of them in the hood?
Yeah, that whole episode was extremely intense.
And it ended so perfectly when it pans out and just shows the entire neighborhood exploding into chaos . . . kind of reminded me of the end of “The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street” (Twilight Zone).
"One to the other . . . one to the other . . . "

After all this talk about True Detective, I ended up ordering it from amazon for $30. I’ve heard not a single bad thing about the show. Can’t wait to check it out.
^
It’s great.
And I normally don’t give a crap about any of the shows that everyone else gets into.
