Okay, I’ve had a couple of days to absorb the three new // / // tunes. At first it was okay but now I’m enjoying a lighter sound/side of Trent. 2 of 3 are provided by Grohl-esque drumming; Dave does bring a Broken feel to nin. [:P] It also sounds like Qotsa, not bad but is Trent now becoming more rock? I’m a huge fan who lost interest after 97 and my interest is peaking….any others with thoughts a about the tunes good/bad?
Well, let me ask you this…
If you heard the tunes, particularly Getting Smaller on the radio one day, and it was not by Nine Inch Nails, what would you think?
Would your curiousity make you go out and buy the album? Immediately?
The answer would be no for me…
But with The Fragile, I more or less considered him “rock” and I think he did too in interviews I have read with him.
That’s why I start off by stating the absorption. I wasn’t impressed by a listen or two…but after the 20th time :)…I’m saying, hummmmm it’s good, I’m getting into it. It’s been six yrs, I’m dying to hear new nin, I might be a little one sided…lol
Trent has also said the fragile was one big movie soundtrack/score. I think the fragile has both rock & industrial…just wasn’t that good.

I would think ‘man this song reeeeally bites, but it still beats listening to Nine Inch Nothing’. And then I would take a refreshing sip from an icy cool can of Coca Cola. Aaaaaaaaah!

I was once ‘curious’ about seeing a film starring Keanu Reeves. So I did. That was six years ago and I STILL haven’t forgiven myself.
So much for curiousity!
The answer would be no for me…
Wow!! Something in common! You know yr quite the smooth talker when you have a mind to be, Officer.

Whoah! Slow down there Fly-boy! I was just having fun…but you…you!!
I’m leaving right NOW, lest someone gets hurt.
Do we really need THREE Nine Inch Nails threads?
welll, no one will release info on ministry so trent is close enough for now.
Do we really need THREE Nine Inch Nails threads?
Yeah, I thought this was a Ministry site!
I came here to talk about Ministry, not Nine Inch Nails damn it!!![mad]
Seriously though, I’ve only heard The Hand That Feeds so far and I wasn’t too impressed.
It’s just kind of catchy and that’s it. It didn’t grab me in any way like it should have done. Not that I was expecting it too. (I’ve learnt the hard way.)
I’m just praying that it’s just a radio friendly filler like Starfuckers Inc. was on The Fragile and the rest of the album has a lot more substance. Becuse if it’s not, then Trent has taken a huge step backwards.

I’d have the same answer. However, NIN is one of those artists whose albums grow on you. I didn’t particularly like “The Downward Spiral” or “The Fragile” when they were first released, but in the years since then they’ve both become favorites of mine.
Sort of the opposite of, say, “Houses of the Mole” or “Filth Pig”, both of which I loved when they first came out, only to find that love diminishing over time.
Trent has also said the fragile was one big movie soundtrack/score. I think the fragile has both rock & industrial…just wasn’t that good.
Yeah I mean some of the tracks are very industrialish and not so rock. But others are just fuzzy distorto rock pop. I liked the instruiments and a few others, and can’t llisten to the rest.
“Pilgrimage” is my fav.
Am I on Prongs or Litany today??
Do we really need THREE Nine Inch Nails threads?
yea, wtf is this? litany?
[laugh]
