Looks like Cleopatra is getting ready to release a double LP of some of the rarities from the box set.
I’ll Do Anything For You was left off, but it does include Drums Along The Carbide this time around. I’m pretty sure the “dub” mix of Don’t Stand In Line is just the Remix and not a dub version. Pretty cool for vinyl collectors.
weeeeell, it’s not really rarities, when it’s mostly live and demo stuff that is presumably sourced from bootlegs. and a few odd remixes.
if one’s gona make such a release, why not make a separate release for full 1982 detroit show? and a separate demo release. maybe this way they make more money, i don’t know.
as for drums along the carbide, i never understood what was so different in this mix. but yeah, lets include most of the stuff that was widely circulated already, but leave off “i’ll do anything for you”.
I like Ministry. Thanks for the heads up! This would look super cool in my slowly but surely growing collection of wax (I have maybe thirty records now??? Talk about late to the party, I know). Dunno if I can quite justify it seeing as how I do have the Trax Box, but it does look pretty gangster.
I think it was just the detroit tracks that ever made it out as a bootleg, although the ones in the box set do sound better than any of the bootleg versions that I’ve heard.
All the other tracks either came directly from Al or those in the circle.
I’m hoping Same Old Madness is the one from the “Original Recordings” CD, since the demo version found it’s way to the Twelve Inch Singles vinyl already.
I have a feeling that a version of I’ll Do Anything For You will end up on the Monumentary vinyl, which may explain its exclusion.
Really? It looks pretty generic. Which I guess is contextually “nice” considering the garbage covers that Al and Cleo are known for. Never mind… carry on.

but that show is bootlegged in full duration (except “America”)
and this release has same 4 tracks that are on waxtrax box
if these official released versions have better sound, why not release these few shows in full? sadface!

i was coming from the angle that it’s sort of in line of early ministry covers for 12" stuff like All Day, Haloween Remix, etc
That Detroit show came from the best version I’ve been able to find over the years. They did some professional cleaning on it and some of the other demos in the studio. Compare things like the version of Wait that I shared here years ago and the one on the box. Definitely cleaned up quite a bit.
looks like they finally started selling the toronto show on their site (or i just noticed they did) and on vinyl nonetheless…
Pretty sure it has always been available there. Didn’t it start out as only there?[/reply]
Their marketing strategy for these releases have been a bit weird. I think they started selling the Toronto CD on Ebay 6 months before the actual release date. They have some things on their Ebay store, but not on the site, and vice versa.

That’s pretty cool. I just assumed the Detroit tracks came from the master recording. Very good sound quality overall. I hope Cleo releases the show in full. The Misfits show could use some cleaning up, but I’m sure they could pull it off as well.
I was pretty blown when I heard the released version of Wait. I just assumed the one you shared was in the correct tempo/time. Again, I assumed they tracked down the master, but props for them for cleaning that one up.
Got my copy, nice package overall. The records are stored in sturdy custom inner sleeves, which fit nicely into a larger oversized jacket. All of the images are Brian Shanley outtakes from 85-86. Has a nice retro look with the 80s hot pink and light blue font colors.
Record one is a clear vinyl and record two is smokey clear.
My complaints still stand from earlier. They should have dropped Same Old Madness, or at least included a different version, since this version also appears on the Twelve Inch Singles compilation. I’ll Do Anything For You shouldn’t have been left off. They should have opted out one of the remixes to make it fit.
Drums Along the Carbide is nicely remastered. Very cool to see it here.
Don’t Stand In Line is the remix version from the box set, it isn’t a dub mix or anything new.
The Detroit tracks sound great on vinyl. I’m still hoping Cleo releases the entire show as a standalone release.

I’ve mentioned this before, both on this site and others, but all of the recordings I’ve heard (including this latest set) of the Detroit 82 show are sped up and as a result are 1/2 note too sharp. I made a set for myself years ago that I time and pitch corrected and they sound much better.

Maybe they’ll get it right if they ever decide to release it in full. Also, they need to get on putting out the Misfits 82 show, kind of surprised that they haven’t, considering it has quite a few unreleased songs.
