I WAS looking forward to a new Robocop film.
But then I saw the pic of his “robo suit”.
Horrible.
Unforgivable.
Completely awful.
Possibly the ONLY element needed for the Robocop film for me to go see it, and they screwed us out of it. They took out Robocop and put in some lowrent black Aquaman or something. Unacceptable.
So now the ONLY film I care about and am putting ALL of my hopes and expectations into is MAD MAX. It will be amazing. It has to be. If it’s not, it will literally kill me.

Same here. That Robo suit looks nothing like a robot. And its not even that, it just looks stupid. Plus remakes usually almost always suck balls
As far as movies go, I’m looking forward to the new Star Trek and Cloud Atlas.
The pic I saw of the new RoboCop looked like Judge Dredd. Definitely a travesty. As far as movies go I’m actually a little more hopeful about Evil Dead after seeing an interview with Bruce Campbell. He did a pretty good job of hyping it up. I forgot about Mad Max 4 til this thread. I never saw Thunderdome but I’ve always heard it was crap. Road Warrior was the best.
Yes, there is some cheese in it, but it is fantastic anyways. Modified vehicles, crazy weapons and battles, leathery spikey villains, Tina Turner. And Barter Town is a wonderful vision. They extended themselves a bit too far with the stupid kids’ substory and trying to add some messagey junk at the end, but aside from that it’s perfect.
I am a huge fan of ALL the Mad Max movies and have been jonesing for almost 30 years now, so it would be hard to make a movie that doesn’t get me excited at this point. I have my own hopes and desires for what I think it SHOULD be, and I have a feeling that they will come through on at least a good measure of that.
20 Years ago, I went to a Danzig concert with none other than Vernon Wells - who plays the evil, mohawked Wez character in Mad Max 2.
Yes, all may bow and kiss my feet.
He is a huge fan of “horror” music and was an all round nice guy.
Mad Max 2 is one of my favourite all time films. Mad Max is decent enough, but I don’t care about Thunderdome.
Just a bit of trivia - Gunnar, did you know that Thunderdome didn’t even start out as a Mad Max movie? Originally it was a film about a plane that crash lands in the desert, with the children on board as the only survivors. They find a hidden oasis and make a home there, and find that the oasis is also home to mutated “creatures” that come out of a deep crack in the earth and attack them.
When George Miller realised the scope and cost of producing such a film (this was 1985 and fx were crappy - not to mention hellishly expensive!) he turned it into a Mad Max film.
There you go.
Anyway, I’m really looking forward to the second part of the Hobbit trilogy this year. I’m a Tolkien geek, if that explains anything…
Forgot about this. Trent said he was working on new material. I think we might get another How To Destroy Angels first, but hopefull we’ll see new NIN. I’ve been wanting to see them again for awhile.
How to Destroy Angels’ next album “Welcome Oblivion” is confirmed for March 5, 2013. NIN will supposedly have a new release for 2014 (the 25th anniversary of the debut).
Godflesh - A World Lit Only By Fire
Flaming Lips - Th Terror
Burzum - East Of The Sun, West Of The Moon
Jesu - tba
Black Sabbath - 13
Skinny Puppy - Weapon
Melvins - Everybody Loves Sausages
Deerhunter - Monomania
Tool, Massive Attack and Aphex Twin all unlikely to drop this year.
Download - LingAM (June 11)
Front Line Assembly - TBA (August?)
Yep, those two too. Though the last few Downloads have only had 2-3 tracks I like on each, but I still hold out hope. Personally I dig Phil’s stuff better than cEvin’s these days.
Godflesh - A World Lit Only By Fire
Yeah Yeah Yeahs- Mosquito
New Mayhem but that probably won’t be out til next year.
Have you heard the new YYY album? I listened to it once in shit quality and was underwhelmed. I’ll give it another chance in lossless for sure but it sounds nowhere near as good as their last album.

Their last album was horrible. New single is somewhat of a step up.
