Top 5 Music DVD's

My kick over the last two years has been picking up music DVD’s. Nothing goes better with solo drinking than a live show from the comfort of a couch. Of everything I’ve seen so far I’ve come up with my top five. Please recommend some other good ones and list your own top five.

Secret Chiefs 3 – Live at the Great American Music Hall
Primus - Hallucino Genetics
Ministry - Sphinctour
King Crimson - Neal and Jack and Me
Faith No More - Live at the Brixton Academy/You Fat Bastards

It was tough after the top three. I had to pick out of about 5 or so to fill out the remaining 2.

I have the same KC DVD, great stuff. I’ve been ramping up on music DVDs myself. Here’s 5 from my own collection that I’d recommend:

New Order - 511
Siouxsie & The Banshees - Nocturne (Robert Smith lineup)
Talk Talk - Live At Montreux 1986
The Chameleons - Singing Rule Brittania (2 shows)
URGH! A Music War (Warner Archive sells a DVD-R now with all of the acts except Splodgenessabounds, great picture and sound)

1002

Does it have to be a dvd?

The NIN ‘Closure’ VHS kind of pwns…

Ditto with Marilyn Manson ‘Dead to the World’ VHS

I like Closure too.
Wish I’d gotten the torrent Trent seeded.

Monks “Transatlantic Feedback” (Documentary)
Melvins “Salad Of One Thousand Delights”
Killing Joke “XXV Gathering”
Ministry “SphincTour/In Case…”
Scratch (Documentary)

Pantera 3,
either of the 2 Type O negative dvds,
the dvd that came w/the RHCP’s greatest hits
does spinal tap count since they DO play live shows?
uhm if not either kmfdm beat by beat or the beastie boys anthology…

there’s a hell of alot more i like but those are the ones i’ve probably watched the most (mostly from when i was younger)

Haven’t bought a music dvd in about 5 years I’d say.

In no particular order

Ministry: Sphinctour
Pink Floyd: Pulse
The Essential Clash
Roy Orbison: Black & White Night
Nine Inch Nails: And All That Should Have Been

oh, and also Alice in Chains: Music Bank was the first one I got and I watched the fuck out of it.

Have been meaning to get that King Crimson one for a while. Maybe the time is now.

And All That Could Have Been - NIN
Beside You In Time - NIN
Trilogy - The Cure
Festival - The Cure

ADIOS PUTA MADRES…not really…

I don’t really own many band dvds to be honest. I have a manson one laying around somewhere to, but it’s not much worth listing these days. Almost bought the ministry one, but ended up having a conscious. Schintour seems like it could be awesome, but i’ve never got around to owning, or even watching.

Prolly get laughed at but the Metallica S&M dvd is pretty nice. Especially when you can get rid of Metallica and just listen to the symphony.

Back when I was still in my hating-metallica phase, that was actually the only thing I liked. I remember when they played the entire thing on TV.

Nice! I’d throw in a Nick Cave documentry as well.
Plus, The Chameleons “Resurrection” video"

Does Velvet Goldmine count?
Good call on Scratch. That movie made me want run out and buy a nice turntable to geek out on.

What about the GG Allin Hated music thingy?

Does that not count?

It’s more of a tribute documentary isn’t it?

I liked it when the chick pees in his mouth and he throws up!

Aaaah GG.

Oh! forgot about Cave. I own the Abattoir Blues Live DVD, also.

David Bowie - Best of
Roy Orbison - Black and White Night
Beastie Boys - Video Anthology
Faith No More - Who Cares a Lot
Butthole Surfers - Blind Eye Sees All

Leonard Cohen - Live in London
Big Black - Pig Pile
Tom Waits - Big Time
Cabaret Voltaire - “Doublevision Presents…”

Perhaps not all are my favorites but some good ones no one has mentioned.

I think the only ones I HAVE are the one that came in Black Sabbath’s Black Box and a Corrugation concert. [:)]

I still need to pick up Sphinctour.

both were good… i thought this was just bands dvd’s. otherwise i’d say repo the gentic opera, rocky horror, hedwick and the angry inch, and probably a bunch more i am forgetting.
