I had read Tommy had been ill, but I didn’t know the extent.
RIP RAMONES.
Man, all of those guys died young. I’m very familiar with the Ramones, but I do not know anything about them. Are their deaths based on drugs and drinking over the years?
In order of deaths . . .
Joey died of some kind cancer - lymphoma something or other.
Dee Dee was a hopeless junkie.
Johnny had testicular cancer, as I recall.
I’ve not yet read anything on Tommy’s passing . . .
Sucks.
Also amazing that The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Black Sabbath have all outlived the Ramones.
Not sure I would have called that.
Yeah I guess what I meant to say was all the original members of The Ramones died before all the original members of those other bands…

I understood what you meant.
Can anyone name ANOTHER band which has had ALL of the original members die? Just curious.

Well, eventually given a long enough time line everyone’s survival rate goes to zero unfortunately. Granted this is engineer in me speaking, but I think you need a few more parameters around your question.[/reply]
Yes, Dr. Science, I know all people eventually die. I’m asking if there are any bands which already have had ALL the members die. You know, kind of like EXACTLY what I asked.
I didn’t think “parameters” were needed to explain something which was clearly asked, but let me try to expand a little . . .
Can anyone name any other band which has had ALL of its original members die?
That is, everyone from the original lineup of the band will have already died. They are now all presently dead. The original members, that is. They are not breathing and their hearts no longer pump blood. They will have discontinued their time amongst us and their bodies are now just an empty vessel, undergoing a process of decomposition. They will eventually just become a bunch of atoms somewhere in the universe, because they are dead.
What’s that? Can you include bands that are still alive but will be dead one day? No. That is not what I mean or it would have been a pointless query as it would include everyone. They must already be dead. They could have died 50 years ago or 2 seconds ago, but they must be dead, and their deaths should be part of a collective group which makes a band (that is, a musical group) and that band’s original members must ALL BE DEAD (no longer living).
Any questions?
Well,it’s down to Marky…[:(]

Jimi Hendrix Experience…
Very sad news, i love the Ramones, such a fantastic band, even if a lot of people are more familiar with their t-shirts than their amazing music. RIP Tommy.[:(]

I don’t know if duos / partnerships can be included on this list, but both founding members of Coil are deceased. Am having a hard time thinking of a trio or quartet that has completely ‘joined the choir invisible’.

Isn’t C.J. still alive?
Marky, CJ, Richie are still alive. Richie played 500 shows with the Ramones. Don’t forget Clem Burke played 2 shows.
I was going to check if any members of Bill Haley and his Comets were still alive, but after checking they are claiming 100 performing band members over the years I didn’t want to research who was original.

I never knew about Richie, and I dunno who Clem Burke is.
As for Bill Haley, you could always try wikipedia. I actually have gained respect for “Rock Around The Clock” after I’ve heard about it causing riots. It was a fine song to begin with, but the fact that it had that kind of impact makes it all the more legendary. Not to mention, it was the original theme for Happy Days.

Thinking back a few weeks, Monks were discussed here. I can’t think of another off the top of my head though.
EDIT: But upon further review, it looks like Eddie Shaw and Larry Clark are still alive. How about T.Rex?
Clem Burke is Blondies drummer, and the Ramones had him fill in for two shows, after Richie quit over money until they rehired Marky. I havent heard the audio but supposedly his drumming didnt fit in. Richie wrote the song Somebody Put Something In My Drink, and a couple of others.
Iggy is the only original Stooge left, earlier this year Scott Asheton joined his brother Ron and original bassist Dave Alexander in the boneyard. Close but…

Yeah, I was thinking of that one too.
Though if you’re only gonna have one surviving member . . . that’s the only one you need.
