TLS bonus tracks

I finally got my copy of TLS in the mail today. It is the deluxe edition and I have to admit the packaging is very nice. There are two bonus tracks in this edition and they are the remixes of “Watch Yourself” and “The Last Sucker”

Apparently, there are also remixes of “Life Is Good” and “No Glory” out there. Does anybody know how I could get my hands on these?

i was interested in the remixes, but i checked out the best buy edition ones (same as deluxe edition ones it seems) and they were as shit as Rio Grande Dub Ya, so i stopped bothering…

one of the two other remixes is available when you purchase the digital album online if i remember correctly from itunes or something like that… oh, here’s the info:

* "Watch Yourself (The End is Here)" - 4:30 (found on Best Buy versions at track #23)
* "The Last Sucker (Remix)" - 3:44 (found on Best Buy versions at track #69)
* "Die in a Crash Remix" - 5:22 (iTunes exclusive)
* "No Glory (Remix)" - 4:49 (Napster only download)

hmm ok, i guess ill check out the online stores then.
the remixes arent particularly inspired i suppose but im a bit of a completist so id at least like to hear them.

Weren’t those other tracks part of some sort of iTunes package? I could be wrong.

Were there no studio leftovers from TLS to offer as bonus tracks? Maybe Ministry is a band that doesn’t record 15-20 songs, then choose 10 of them for the album? I remember back in Nineteen-hundred-n-ninety, when Depeche Mode’s Violator came out, all the subsequent singles had at least one or two bonus tracks. I think it ended up being six extra songs from those sessions (all decent tunes), making Violator a virtual 15-track album (which it could’ve been, but the band didn’t want another bloated release like Music For The Masses). Of course, bands don’t release singles like they used to. Shame.

I’m the same way. The “End of Days” remix is fantastic, btw.

DIE IN A CRASH!!!

that’s not the case of ministry in general… and even more true since 2003, none the albums since Animositisomina had any proper b-sides in form of songs from the album sessions.

the only ones i can think of right off the bat is Happy Dust from Dark Side Of The Spoon probably (it was not on the leaked tape and may be it was done/completed specially for Bad Blood single); Paisley from Filth Pig is definately an outtake (it was supposed to be on the album initially), Fucked and Quick Fix from Psalm bunch, Dream Song reappeared on Mind CD, Tonight We Murder is a good candidate for a proper b-side song too… the 84-87s had alot more songs - enough to fill a 70 minute compilation or two separate 40 min “albums” beside Twitch, but Twitch has only one proper b-side song - The Isle Of Man.

The remix bonus tracks seems to be popular at the moment. The new manson album had two bonus remixes as well. The new QOTSA had bonus tracks (thankfully not remixes, lol, good old b-sides).
Surprised interscope didnt try to tack on some remixes to Year Zero…

There’s an end of days remix as well?? They’re going to release an albums worth of remixes before a remix album eventuates, lol.

On singles: its a shame they are not released as they once were, I used to love collecting singles for obscure B-sides or whatever, finding an import with an exclusive mix etc… now groups seem to get one single per album, and thats not that great.
One exception: RHCP, they released like 3-4 singles for Stadium arcadium, and all had really goood b-sides on them. Good stuff.

1 single per album… i depends on how you look at it. take Metallca’s Black Album for example - out of 12 tracks 5 were made into singles… FIVE. similar case is Rammstein, i guess if it’s super-popular, then it will get milked with singles.

and if that wasn’t enough, there are several versions of some of those singles with different tracklisting, even in the same countries. i don’t really like that. but anyway if it gets released in japan, it’s always the most complete single out there.

in Ministry case the most album-related singles were off Psalm 69 but here’s what’s cool about them: you can bundle 'em all together and make sort of alternative version of the album, say:

nwo ext dance mix
j1f wsb version
tv song
quick fix
jbmhr redline/whiteline
fucked
nwo bonus beats (to make it a fucked up ending, lol)

that would make 46 minutes and a great alternative to Psalm 69. you can’t do that when all singles have for b-sides are say, several remixes of the same track or some live tracks.

In one of the interviews it was said that there were a bunch of songs on a shelf, and they had picked what they felt fit the mood of the album the best. Which is funny, as the second half of it doesn’t flow at all.

I have the two mixes from the Best Buy edition, if someone could up the other two? I refuse to pay for stuff I already know I won’t like…but I have to have at least digital copies for the collection, damnit. [pirate]

I meant NOW bands only seem to get one single per album. I’m probably completely wrong it just seems groups dont release as many as in the past. I know its because the “single” is going the way of the dinosaur with these new fangdangled Itunes and what not [:P]

I heard they are bring out a “ringle” however to try and get interest back into them. [crazy] how terrible to sell a single you need to include a ringtone on the cd.

well, ringtones themselves are also becoming obsolete, since most phones can now simply play mp3s… bands could do a “ringtone” remix of a song though, with the vocals cut out and the treble boosted, although that really does sound scary !

DIE IN A CRASH!!!

Yeah, I meant that. Not End of Days.
My mistake.

I think if bands were smart they would do away with albums and only release singles. It would fit the current 99cent download model better.

I totally agree and strongly suspect that’s the way the industry is going to move in the next 1-2 years. It will be more like the '50s and 60s where the albums where more of compilations of singles than their own beast.

I just broke out my old Tori Amos singles to make a comp for the girlfriend…the b-sides for the various Little Earthquakes singles comprised more than an entire album’s worth of material!

Anyone else remember anxiously waiting for your favorite band’s next 12"? Couldn’t wait to get home to spin that sucker, bask in the poster sized artwork…made me feel like part of an exclusive club. Fuck iTunes. [mad]

ab-so-loot-lee. loved the 12"s.

Same here. Much of my iPod consists of b-sides, bonus tracks, songs from soundtracks, etc.

i hear you guys. i still love my collection (i’m a bachelor and have the room). that’s why i don’t have an ipod. i don’t feel music is fully mine until i have “the package”.

yes - i know - i’m lame - i don’t have an ipod.

the sound quality is just not the same when you download . correct me if i’m wrong.
and yeah, what’s not to like about artwork, photos, credits you see in front of you --not on a screen.
had a 12" picture disc of joy division’s warsaw that i gave away.
gave it away.

if it’s a perfect digital rip from Steve Hoffman’s mastered CDs in FLAC or any lossless format, it will sound uber-great.

as for mp3s yea the quality sux but they’re great for previews, much smaller to download
