Allegedly a ‘sexual assault’, or such was being reported a couple days ago.
While ‘Kaner’ is one of the best U.S. players of the past couple generations, his off-ice antics have been an embarrassment, and I certainly hope he hasn’t done something even more stupid and harmful than the time he assaulted a cabbie in Buffalo.
Leaving to Lima,Peru in a few hours…talk to you guys in a week…full blooded coofin llama’s…
I saw Morris Day & The Time over the weekend for free. Good show and about what you would expect as far as a setlist goes if you’re into that whole scene. Meanwhile, Outside Lands was happening and I happened to be staying right next to all of the action. All I can say there is that hipsters are bad enough, hipster tourists are nearly an entirely different story all together…
Was surprised to hear about Wes Craven dying…had no idea he was sick…nor a fan of all his work…he definitely had his fair share of clunkers…but still he is a legend in the horror genre and was responsible for a couple of classics…rip

Same here, I had no idea. The original Nightmare on Elm Street is a classic. I enjoyed the Scream movies for what they were, but haven’t seen them since the 90s. I’ll give some of these a spin this October.

Yeah,I wasn’t a huge fan of the Scream movies but there is no denying they were something new and different…and they also reinvigorated the horror genre when it was in desperate need of it…the influence Scream has is undeniable…
Craven was cool.
SCREAM was all right. I can do without the 400 sequels.
I really like his early stuff.
“Last House On the Left” is just brutal.
The original “The Hills Have Eyes” is cool too.
And I like ALL of the Nightmare on Elm Streets.
(I think the only ones I’ve missed were Freddy v. Jason and the most recent one ----- though I don’t know how many of all of them were actually directed by Wes).
Dream child was my favorite followed quickly by Freddy’s revenge.

Interesting that you like the crappy ones in the franchise, but that’s how I am with the Friday The 13th movies, and Freddy’s Revenge at least had Max from Weird Science in his only other notable role.
Gunnar, Wes Craven directed 1, 3 (which featured Dokken!) and New Nightmare. Freddy Vs Jason was fun in the theater if you can ignore it being kinda disappointing for a film that had been in the making since 1987. Yes, Freddy Vs Jason could’ve had an amazing dose of 80’s cheese if New Line Cinema and Paramount Pictures came to an agreement…
I like 1 and 3 the best.
“New Nightmare” was cool too. I liked how they crossed over with having Craven as himself and blurring the lines between what is the story and what is reality . . . something done with varying degrees of success in other films around the same time (“Last Action Hero”, “In The Mouth of Madness”, etc.)
I remember liking everything else okay, and probably liking #2 the least of all.
I also liked “SHOCKER” a lot. It had such a badass poster too.
I really don’t remember much about either “People Under The Stairs” or “Serpent And The Rainbow”.
Does anyone remember an old horror movie about some kids playing in a barn and one jumps into a haystack onto a pitchfork and dies? At the funeral the other kid (I think they were twins maybe) cuts off the dead kids finger with some pruning cutters to get his ring and then puts the finger in a box. I can’t remember the rest but I remember it being creepy. They played it on TV a lot when I was really young but haven’t seen it since. I’d like to see it again for old times sake.
You are talking about ‘The Other’ from the early 70’s…they used to show it all the down here on channel 30 late at night…I remember it well because I saw it so many times as a teenager…creepy film indeed…

Recommend a few lost gems I might not be aware of? Any for the comedic factor? And were you ever much of a “slasher” fan?

NAUGHTY NAUGHT!!!
When I was a kid, around 8 years old, I was obsessed with a movie called “THE BOOGENS”. I only saw like part of it once when at a friend’s cabin and it was on cable (they were rich, we were not, so anyone with cable may have just as well been billionaires in my book), but I just remember being so impressed by the commercials when it was in the theatre.
My friends and I would play a game based on this movie. I don’t remember the game even having any point, other than we’d creep into somewhere kind of dark and scary (a basement, an alley, behind a dumpster, whatever) and then run screaming “THE BOOGENS!!! THE BOOOGENS!!!”
