“We, the NFL, condemn racism and the systematic oppression of Black People. We, the NFL, admit we were wrong for not listening to NFL players earlier and encourage all to speak out and peacefully protest. We, the NFL, believe Black Lives Matter,” the NFL said.
2 things.
Do they plan on reinstating Kaepernick? If not, then it’s just lip service.
And 2
When Kaepernick was protesting the only thing that happened was we killed the messenger (IE Looked the other way - I know not everyone but I’m not talking individually I mean “WE” as a society.) When the messenger(s) started burning down neighborhoods (Still not the answer but the reaction that logically follows) now something is said/hopefully done.
You’re right. Without tangible action this is just the bare minimum. It goes beyond reinstating Kaepernick, they’ve also gotta put more effort to ensure there are more minority coaches, executives, even owners.
holy shit. this is huge. this will reach a lot of people. and when i say that i’m referring to old white racists.
I disagree, i think this does mean something, just because they took a stance. They will have to stand behind it, even in corporate world that’s weak if they don’t. I’m not sure what’s going to happen to Kaepernick though. its feels tacky to me if they just reinstate him. awkward.
Kap has been out of action for soooo long he can’t possibly play at the NFL level anymore, at least not without significant reps. If he does return, (which I doubt, the NFL are dumbasses and they only answer to the owners) he’d be relegated to backup QB and its a shame he was blackballed and the NFL has flip flopped
Yeah, hes been out for a what, 3 years, BUT in all fairness he should get three years to be on a team to make his come back (practice team)And thats assuming Hes outta shape… maybe hes been keeping up with training? Also if they can take a 5 year retired qb outta the commentator booth to play, they can take a younger player whose only been out for 3.
