For months all I’ve heard is Mike brown was shot in the back by one officer Darren Wilson. Turns out 3 different autopsies say NO! but the news never reported that. Well not that I heard. What the hell?
I eventually had to turn the news off. cnn and msnbc kept referring to the situation as “the white cop that shot the black UNARMED teenager will not be indicted” and fox (yes i actually went to fox news) kept droning on about how the system works and bla bla bla and look at these savages burning down their neighborhood. Just pathetic all the way around. I havent been following the case so i had no interest in this case other than the sensational details that had been released and that were apparently untrue. And then when the news agencies didnt get the outcome they wanted they continued to push the narrative anyway. I would think the news agencies should have some responsibility in the violence that has ensued.
The problem with the media now is that it feels no obligation to really report any kind of objective truth; it’s simply partisan info-tainment meant to reinforce the beliefs of the people who belong to one opposing political camp or the other. Most of the stories I see, regardless of whether they’re reported on FOX or one of the ‘alphabet soup’ networks, start with a pre-determined conclusion and rejects any information that disagrees with it. And, yes, go so far as to do things like doctoring tapes to ensure this.
One result of this approach is that difficult-to-stomach opinions, such as the fact that BOTH sides in a given conflict may be over-reaching and intolerant assholes, are never considered, because this is not “what people want to hear”.
I know very little about this case beyond images that I’ve seen: on one hand, militarized cops whose presence just seems like a test run for some larger subjugation of dissidence in the U.S., and on the other hand we have rioters who think acts of petty destruction are a meaningful way of fighting the system.
On a micro level, there’s also incidents like the Trayvon Martin / George Zimmerman case, which again featured a nosy busy-body cop type and a not quite angelic kid who tweeted stuff like “Two Glock 40s: bitch, you got 80 problems” (I have to admit that is a lol-worthy tweet.)
As always, I just wonder what the end game of the media controllers is, and I wouldn’t put it beyond the partisan news networks to actually be in collusion with each other - keeping poor, generally powerless constituencies constantly at each others’ throats rather than focusing on the handful of people who enjoy pushing their panic buttons for cold cash.
I hear ya, Grumps. It really is just shotgun journalism and throwing spaghetti on the wall.
I turned on CNN last night and they were showing (from helicopters) the activity and Anderson Cooper was saying, “These are not people from the Ferguson area. These are outsiders who came here.” I kind of scratched my head thinking . . . “You can tell that . . . from the helicopter? Or do you have someone on the ground checking ID’s? What the heck?”
And then this morning on the same channel, "The mobs were made of local angry residents . . . ".
Yeah, seriously, guys. It’s OKAY to just not know something. If all you can see from the chopper is people looting a store . . . that’s all you can see. No need to fill in the blanks and tell me they are heroin addicts, or Democrats, or welfare recipients, or Buddhists . . .
If everyone is black, well, it’s okay to say it. But don’t tell me they all came in on a bus from Detroit to come and start a riot if there is no evidence thereof.

Yeah, I was saying the same thing. “How the fuck do you know that? Why would you even say that on camera?”

ridiculous. The coverage between the networks wasn’t consistent either MSNBC and CNN would be showing pics of buildings on fire CNN says, “this isn’t too bad only a few buildings here and there…” MSNBC “There are fires but it’s but it’s regulated to a specific part of town” and then on FOX it was “OH THE HUMANITY!! THERE ARE FIRES EVERYWHERE. PEOPLE ARE SHOOTING GUNS AT THE COPS. DOGS AND CATS LIVING TOGETHER! MASS HYSTERIA!!”

Yeah that shepherd fella from FOX was horrible with guessing. at one point I was talking to the tv telling that guy “if you don’t know then just shut the fuck up.” I can guess just as well as him I don’t need a goddamn speculative play by play for what I’m seeing. just stupid.
you know, I was all ready to hang that officer up like everybody else based on the details i knew (granted i knew that i didn’t know much but what little details I had, I was under the impression it was pretty open and shut) but as the DA started explaining and presenting the evidence in his speech, I felt like I received the whole story and seriously discredited what little crap I had heard on the “news.”

To me, if there is ever a reason to rally around a case treyvon was it. That was clearly a perversion of justice. This is not.

That’s one of the main reasons I despise the “24 hour news cycle” we now have (I don’t think we need any TV to be broadcast 24 hours a day, either, but that’s another story.)
That whole way of operating forces reporters to ‘make news’ out of some trivial shit, and of course to deliver items that they can’t confirm simply to give the cameras something to chew on.
I have been biting my tongue on this story, but I’ll let some out here.
This is what I gather from the trial report.
Michael Brown is a criminal, who strong arm robbed a man of some cigars, then was approached by a cop and questioned, MB then attacked the cop and made a move for his gun while the cop sat in his car, the cop over-powered him, fired two shots at MB while he was sitting in his car with MB over him. MB ran. MB then turned back and ran at the cop. Cop shot him until he dropped.
strong arm robbery:
(think of this image next time you see that rosey picture of him in his graduation cap and gown or wearing his “beats” headphones in a game room.)
His step father (green shirt) should be arrested for insinuating a riot last night. Here he is telling everyone to “burn this bitch down” over and over and over again. Which “they” did.

The fact is, that the black community has some serious educational and value issues that are - at this point - almost unsolvable. They (black community) wanted this instance to be used to fight against race directed police brutality. But they fucked up. Because this instance was a fucking criminal who tried to take a cops gun getting shot dead.
Yeah, I’ve been incensed from day 1 on this.
Michael was 19 years old, and like 6’ 5" almost 300 lbs.
He was an ADULT.
He was a criminal.
A violent, scary, unremorseful full-grown CRIMINAL.
And what did the media say, over and over again?
“The white cop shot the unarmed black teenager!”
It makes it sound like some cracker ass redneck cop decided to gun down a 13 year old for playing Pokemon on the sidewalk or something. That’s just NOT how it went down.
Media misinformation repeats itself once again, TM and now MB. Imagine that.
Physical evidence, timeline, and witness accounts corroborated to tell the full story. Science Saves!
Last week, I basically told the 6th, 1st, and 2nd graders the same thing that FWII stated in his video about education and getting out of your crappy situation. “I did it and so can you.” I was asked the question, “If I get in trouble, can I still work in science?” I told the student it’s better to stay out of trouble in the first place, but it really depends on what you did to get in trouble. We do have someone who grew up in the projects and did some questionable things when he was younger who did become successful later.

Tm and mb are miles apart. Outrage on tm is justified. Not so much on mb
BURN BABY BURN
BURN BABY BURN
“Burn this motherfucker down!”
“Burn this bitch down!!”
Cnn is still stoking it “somethings gonna happen you can feel it.”

Yeah. So much for the “innocent black youth with a bright future in front of him merrily skipping along on his way to Grandma’s house when big ol’ bad Whitey stepped into his path and stopped him dead.”
That’s left wing journalism for ya.
The fact is, that the black community has some serious educational and value issues that are - at this point - almost unsolvable.
I hate to be “that guy” but this is all you needed to post. Sums it right up.
And I would say ditto for the Muslim community.
Hate me all you want.

prongs became stormfront so gradually i barely noticed
That’s left wing journalism for ya.
I assume that was for me. Ill bite. 24 hour news isnt even a accidentally left wing. /comment
The black community needs a real leader.
I think Chris Rock’s 20 year old “joke” is appropriate now more than ever.
“l think we need a new leader. We ain’t had a black leader in a while. ln a long time. Somebody that moves you. You know, we had Martin Luther King, Malcolm X… and ever since then, a bunch of substitute teachers.”
