This new season so far is just completely random and weird. Not a bad thing, but it’s just out there. Last week’s episode with the cats and the heavy metal animation was great though. They need more Randy Marsh!

LOL…ME TOO.

ha - same here

Word, 1002. Though the new South Park did kick a huge amount of ass. I totally adore “Heavy Metal,” and I agree, Jizz… the sequel was horrible. Rather than accurately portraying the magazine, it followed one continuous storyline. Meh. Soundtrack wasn’t great, either. I’d much rather trip out to Sammy Hagar and Black Sabbath than Pantera.

I was wondering after I posted it how many people would think skinny puppy… Lol sorry 'bout that.

Don’t bother seeking out the sequel. It’s an aberration.

as someone who sat through Heavy Metal 2000 I am free to say…its fucking shit.

Ha, no wonder I thought Heavy Metal was lame, I thought 2000 was the only one! Although I did check out an issue once, pretty good, shame it’s so expensive here and pretty hard to find or I might check it out more.

But south park, yes SP rules, thanks for alerting me to the fact there’s new eps out!

Wtf, clearly “SP” means “Skinny Puppy” on this board.

That was an excellent South Park episode. I love the Heavy Metal movie, it was great to see such a fond homage to the film. Wonder how much of their audience actually got the reference. Favorite segment in the Heavy Metal movie might be Harry Canyon, the lazy New York cab driver who stumbles his way to glory against alien mobsters and two timing dames. The film really did a bang up job of capturing the look of the comics from that era (though I think the Den segment had a difficult time emulating Corben’s color palette but it’s still wonderful). The Taarna segment is great, surprising that Moebius didn’t contribute designs to it, they certainly borrowed liberally from his style for that one! It’s sad that stylish animation like that doesn’t seem to exist anymore. Sure all the youngun’s will be like “Well there’s all this anime thats so much better than Heavy Metal” but anytime I hear that my eyes just roll deep into the back of my skull.

Heavy Metal 2000, on the other hand, continues in the tradition of sucking that has clearly been reserved for all films with 2000 after the title. Though Michael Ironside did try to bring a little good voice acting to that dismal affair, but it was useless. It Blows. Thanks Kevin Eastman for using all your ninja turtles money to buy out Heavy Metal and turn it into a showcase for your b-movie wife. huzzah. I remember reading in an old issue of Heavy Metal from 84 that Dan O’Bannon was working on a sequel at one point. Too bad that never materialized

Exactly, i dont want to hear about fuckin south park - although the episode about imagination land was funny as shit

Absolutely loved Light Years. Fantastic Planet is another great one from the same director, that one looks even more like a strip from Metal Hurlant jumping to life. He also did another one you should see Jizzwad, or maybe you have. It’s called Time Masters and Moebius contributed heavily to it. Great stuff!

I’ve never read the Long Tomorrow but love me some Moebius. Is it currently available?

Shit, can’t afford $70. I’ll keep my eye out…

That Iron Man poster is fucking sweet. Had it as a kid but it’s long since been lost to the sands of time. That was my favorite of the Moebius Marvel posters and probably my favorite picture of Iron Man out there (and I’m a bit of an Iron Man geek).

Here I am thinking you had some news on the new Skinny Puppy…

Me was thinking: “New record from Smashing Pumpkins???” …
