The Most Devastating Song On The Planet Thread....

The most devastating song on the face of the planet…no make that the universe… is easily…

“Mine Is No Disgrace” by the Melvins feat Jim Thirwell from the Melvins album “The Crybaby”.

Don’t believe me? Listen to it radges!![cool]

I must concur. I think this track has over 200 listens on my ipod. Foetus played this one live when i saw him in 2001 and it blew the place apart. Great track. The slow creeping build to the crushing chorus is fantastic,

Yeah the build up is awesome.

The song is an absolute bone crusher!

I love how in the Crybaby liner notes it says “there’s not a dry crotch in the house after this one”[cool]

“Most devastating song on the planet” is a rather elastic category to define and narrow down to just one song.

I think it’s pretty safe to say you haven’t heard “Mine Is No Disgrace”.

Jim’s vocals on that song are atrocious.

Well to be fair Jim isn’t exactley Frank Sinatra is he?

Jim sounds AWESOME on there and the Melvins sound DEVAFUCKINGSTATING!!!

well, Jim might not be Sinatra but his vocals were good on older albums. He seems to be completely tone deaf on more recent releases though (Love).

Dude it’s Rock’n’Roll not Pop Idol.

I think the early years of screaming on albums like Nail and Thaw may have played a bit of havoc on Jim’s voice. “Love” has some off bits, especially “Don’t want me anymore”. Still I like his voice on the Melvins track, he sounds positively desperate and mad, I think it works well with the build up.
