So I just saw a whiskey commercial for “Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum” and they were playing “Where Eagles Dare” With Danzig on vocals.
Wonder if Danzig knows about this.
They only played the snippet "I ain’t no goddamn son of a bitch, you better think about it baby… hey hey hey hey " the commercial is only about 15 secs long.
anybody else see this?

Interesting.
Who owns the songs?
This sounds kind of similar to some past DK/Jello pissing wars. I think as Decay Music was a four-way equal ownership for most of the old stuff Jello was just kind of S.O.L. with his dissent about selling usage to various commercial vehicles (he still promptly cashed the checks, though).
There was a vehicle commercial several years ago that also used a sample from a real Misfits song (wish I could remember which song ans which vehicle).
Interesting.

According to Jello he hasn’t seen dime one since the split. and I don’t think DK have had any songs used in commercials. Levis decided not to use Holiday In Cambodia after the fall out between the DKs

With respect to commercials that may be true (as there have not seemingly been any), but if he’s referring to residuals, licensing, merch, etc. he’s absolutely lying (I’ve even seen some of the checks).
But again, as much as I still love Jello’s music catalog I’m 38 now and couldn’t care less about his bellyaching about his no-good sellout bandmates, censorship, Republicans, or any other dead horse he’s been flogging for the last 20 years.

Thanks. You may be right. I remember there was a big tiff about Levi’s but I was way beyond caring at that point, so I really don’t remember what the end to that story was.
Every single track found on Legacy Of Brutality should at some point be used in a commercial.
That used to be my least favorite release by the Misfits, But dammit if I haven’t given it a second spin in recent years/months and its vaulted to the #1/#2 spot in the Misfit catalogue. That whole album has an atmosphere to it that is touched by nothing.
I’m not too tech savvy when it comes to music recording jargon, so I don’t know if what I’m about to write is the correct words, but I don’t know if its the recorded mix or the production values or the master copy or what, but that whole album has such a feel to it that is so beautiful. the sound/feel of the album may even be better than the individual songs themselves.
The only thing keeping that album from being perfect is the fact that Cough Cool is missing from the track list. Cough Cool totally has that feel of all of those other songs on the album… maybe it was recorded the same way.

I’m not saying you’re lying but how would you be in a position to see any of Jello’s royalty checks? How much were they for?
This was back around 02 or 03, probably, and things were heated between the two camps. Jello was spouting a bunch of bull and making a bunch of accusations. The DK’s responded in kind by explaining/defending accordingly on their website. I don’t remember if they were for merch or album sales or what, but they put up a small handful (around 4) of photos of checks written and cashed made out clearly to ERIC BOUCHER (Jello’s real name). The ammounts, as I recall, were in the $10K - $40K range.
He said on either spoken word 7 or 8 that he hasn’t seen any royalty checks, ever.

I struggled getting through #4, and TRIED but gave up finally with #5. Seriously nauseating.
I’m not saying any of this to take sides (I wince and groan when I see DK shirts in JC Penny, and at least Jello is creating NEW music). Just stating some facts.
to be fair I don’t think it takes a mad genius to realize Jello is/was cashing those checks, exactly how DOES one make a living from Alternative Tentacles alone? great label but I don’t see a lot of people buying Wesley Willis and Crucifucks records…

Ahhh, now I’m getting nostalgiac. Doc Dart friggin’ RULES!!! He’s apparently since gone completely bananas. I wish him nothing but the best.

They sell more than that but point taken. but according to Jello, it’s not that he wasn’t cashing them he wasn’t receiving them to cash them.
I Just looked up the “cashed checks,” maybe… there isn’t anything on there to show he cashed them and I find it odd that ray signed all of the checks (even one from 2001 that looks like it was written from a personal checking account, even though it says decay music)even though their all from Decay records. Why would Ray sign all of Decay musics checks? And what about the manifesto royalty checks.
weirder still, is it seems some are printed out of a machine and others have been hand filled in… I don’t know about you, but I’ve had a lot of jobs and I’ve certainly never had an employer pay me with a hand written check, but whatev!

I think between getting beat up and having his life’s work stolen and sold to the very people he hates, it has taken it’s toll on him.
Also, with the internet being the bastion of information that it is, I think he’s realizing the future of his spoken words are obsolete and he realizes he’s become irrelevant and behind the times… It used to be you listened to a JB spoken word album to hear the shit the news should’ve been reporting, now that stuff is all over the net. A generic liberal blog has more on a daily basis than a 3 disc Jello spoken word.
I was referring to Doc from the Crucifucks. I read about him about 6 years back and he had just flipped his lid (moreso than before). He used to have a baseball card shop (almost 20 years back) and when you’d call up and ask for Doc he would ask if you wanted to speak to Big Doc or Little Doc. If you said “Lil Doc” he would speak in that crazy whiny grating voice that he used on his records.

Oh… I’m not familiar with anything crucifucks.
