The Melvins/Lustmord - Pigs of the Roman Empire

Has anyone else heard this CD? I just bought it recently because I like both bands’ work to some degree and the Lustmord/Metal Beast collaboration was really cool.

Anyway the CD is VERY good. It really combines the styles of both bands and the record as a whole is so interesting and unique. It’s almost like this industrial-ambient-metal (Melvins style) if that makes sense.

Love how The Melvins sound when they’re augmented by industrial electronics and programming. Lustmord also produced the record so there are some very interesting production elements where he takes the rock stuff and kind of submerges it.

Really unique. Does anyoen else dig this? Any word on future collaborations between these two artists?

On a side note I also own Sieg Howdy! and I thought Pigs of the Roman Empire was a lot more creative/original but obviously not as accessible…

One of the best records of 2004.

And far better than the two Biafra/Melvins collaborations IMO.

Love the album. “The bloated pope” is on more than one of my mix cds i keep in my car. i also like it way more than the melvins/biafra cds, but that’s just because his voice gets on my nerves after a couple songs.

Are the Melvins EVER going to put out another ‘Melvins’ studio album? It’s been years since a release that wasn’t wasn’t either A) a collaboration B) A Side Project or C) A Live album.

Fuck live albums anyway.

I guess this is what it means to be a Melvins fan - you gotta just grit your teeth and just go with the flow.

Yes, 4 years is a long time…

I actually enjoy when bands limit their number of releases and really put a lot of work and thought into each album (Nine Inch Nails comes to mind) because it seems like a lot of bands just have too many CDs in their catalogue and it becomes overwhelming trying to track it all down and complete the collection without doing any illegal downloading etc.

KMFDM comes to mind…and now that I think about it, Current 93. Everytime I think I have all their albums, I learn about some “super-secret limited printed on spacecraft material yada yada edition” b.s. As an ex-DJ, I know I got sick of tracking down all the 12" singles of whatever artist I was spinning at the time…damn you to hell, Moby!
Oh, yeah, and the Melvins are good…but am I the only one that liked the Jello stuff?
