the greatest flyer ever

I guess my theory was right . . . .

Probably 7 or 8 episodes later they got sick of viewers asking and they awkwardly added in a line of dialogue . . .

“Hey, Marco, you goin’ to the Dot later?”

“Yeah. Ellie, I’ll see you there around 6. Oh, by the way, Paige told me that Terri won’t be coming back to school because her dad transferred her to another school because he didn’t want her at the same school as Rick.”

“Oh, okay. Don’t forget to bring some glitter paint so we can make dance decorations.”

Gunnar please understand I’m not angry at you when I say this statement: You’re involvement in this discussion, and statements are pointless.

Is everything you disagree with pointless? I may be using some humor and sarcasm and I may ask you questions specifically intended to make you think or to point out absurdities or incongruities, but I certainly don’t think my statements are pointless.

Instead of telling me my posts are pointless, why don’t you make a stronger point yourself?

Oh, yeah, and please understand that I’m not angry with you either.

Obviously You’re just yanking my chain, I realize that and I’m laughing.

It doesn’t seem like you’re laughing. People don’t usually tell someone to buzz off if they like the jokes. Seems like you just don’t like the message.

However, it’s as bad as these bands that claim they’re serious, when clearly they’re not.

Could you please describe the bands and situation that you’re referring to? I honestly have no idea what you’re talking about here or how it’s relevant.

Be different than them and go do something else useful. Hell make an amazing album that kicks Al Jourgensens ass. That way when I see your release, I can brag to my boss that I know you. Followed by him calling my bluff, only for you do an in store performance. That way when my boss sees you perform and he’s like “Shit they love him!” And I’m like “Damn right, and you called my bluff, you crazy bastard.” Sound like a plan?

I don’t have time for a music album right now. I’m too busy entertaining millions with my globally successful line of comic books. Also, I have my own Q&A/ advice column that I’m heavily invested in because I live to help others.

Telling someone their contributions to a discussion on censorship are invalid or pointless and then telling that person s/he should go make a music album makes about as much sense as a brain surgeon asking his assistant to bring him a pinata filled with chocolate pudding.[/reply]

Sorry I don’t disclose that information in a public forum Gunnar. If you can’t get my comment of Lunatic/Genius, I suggest at least reading the lyrics. If it still doesn’t make sense, think of the entertainment industry for the indies like Hamlet.

Brick and mortar record stores are SO 20th century.

Mixed feelings about this flier, let me elaborate.

First and foremost, I am a fan of Type O Negative and the first time I saw Goatse? It reminded me of the original “Origin of Feces.” Hilarious.

Now here’s where it gets serious. Being that I am an active member of the entertainment industry, there are just things don’t work. This is one of them. The managers I bring material to have guide lines for fliers and that is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Not just the store but everyone involved; including me and you. I hope you’re prepared for that.

Trust me there are psychotic customers are out there. evil dildo (or anyone else) I would hate to see someone sue you, claiming their child was psychologically damaged because of your flier. That’s why I spoke up, not because you deserve it but to prevent it from happening. If you don’t like it fine but at least know some of us in the business are looking out for you.

Alright, I’ll be totally honest.

I saw the first few responses after this and I pretty much skimmed through everything else. It got a little full on… all this fuss about one disgusting man and his equally disgusting anus!

The thing with this flyer is that it’s pretty ambiguous if you don’t know what ‘goatse’ is. It could well be a guy holding open his mouth, or tearing a hole through space, or whatever. I think you’d have to know what goatse is specifically to really be offended by it. And the sort of people that look at goatse probably aren’t the sort to be going around making complaints. I could see how word of mouth could get around and get through to the Christians, but… eh, I’m not really concerned.

The ambiguity is the reason the original painting sits framed in my house on the wall. [laugh]

The reason for the lack of concern is that it’s a flyer for a bunch of bands noone’s really heard of at a little venue noone’s heard of. I didn’t even put the flyer together, anyway. The singer in my band painted it after I gave him the idea for it, and the organiser wanted art for the flyer, so I sent him this and he used it.

Funnily enough, this is the SAME venue where the GG Allin tribute was originally going to be held on Good Friday; the one which got me in deep shit with the government, church, media, etc etc etc.

And I’m well aware of psychotic customers and how exactly to go about things. Especially after that.

So, this flyer is really just relegated to being sent around on facebook, on the internet, and a couple of flyers at the venue. If the venue had a problem, they’d get rid of it. Nothing’s been said so far. And the flyer is one of many offensive and disturbing things one can find on the net. The worst I could envisage happening is someone’s facebook getting deleted, and given I personally deleted mine long ago, I’m not concerned.

I should mention that I try not be offensive and transgressive for the sake of it. It’s just how I am. On the other hand, I’m constantly TRYING to be politcally correct. And I’ve trained myself pretty well, or so I like to think. But, it just so happens a lot of things I find funny or amusing tend to irritate and offend a lot of people. One thing I’ll never do is anything hurtful, and if I fuck up and happen to do so, then I’ll do what I can to make up for it. If that isn’t considered good enough, then that’s a harsh lesson learnt and there’s been a few of those. Guess it’s part of getting older or some crap like that.

Oh, and that Coke add was fucking cool.

It’s cool man just some of the store managers here wouldn’t let me hang up your flyer. What can I say, some of these guys and gals are former musicians/promoters themselves, and know the tricks.

Couple years ago I was at an all ages show this local band used racial slang terms talking to out of town opener and the promoter was present going, “That’s racial bullshit you’ll never get a show in my city, as I see it.” And I’m thinking “Whoa, shit!”

But one last thing “Trying to be politically correct indie musician” What is this a joke? haha [laugh] We’re good man, just know some on the business aren’t all bastards motivated by money and care about the music.

Appreciate the advice and stuff mate. Definitely something to take on board.

As for ‘trying’ to be politically correct, that refers more to the work I’ve done for environmental groups, working as a sports referee, teaching piano, dealing with professors at uni, etc etc etc.

The way I carry on with my friends, family and musicians is a lot different to everything outside of those circles. You’d be surprised coz I’m as aware as anyone else that the contrast is pretty noticeable.
