He wasn’t for everyone…some couldn’t stand his voice or his overall schtick…I thought he was great…he comes from a different era…the one that could take a joke…some of his bits on the Stern show back in the day were legendary…a fearless comedian…rip
He use to come into the bank I worked at…quiet, nice guy.
Met him once. Nice guy, fucking hilarious. RIP.
Very sad. He was a unique voice for comedy
I saw this today too. My first introduction to him was The Adventures of Ford Fairlane as johnny Crunch. “If theres any teenaged virgins in the audience tonight show up to the station with a jar of petroleum jelly and ask to speak to johnny crunch!” He was a funny dude. His seinfeld impression were hilarious. And only he could crack a joke about 9/11 3 weeks after 9/11 and have that shit be funny. As crass as he was i always got the feeling he was playing a character and always seemed like a gentle soul to me. I hope he didnt suffer.
I loved him.
I play his bit from the ROSEANNE roast several times a year.
“A thick pelt of pubic hair covers the mic after Jane speaks because of all the short curlies that shoot from between her teeth as she speaks”
He was a master roaster…but roasts are a thing of the past now because people get their little pee-pee’s hurt now too easily…
Yeah, we’re kinda entering the Dark Ages of comedy it seems. I hope the pendulum swings back, but outlook is pretty bleak.
