The Dark Knight Rises + Prometheus trailers

http://youtu.be/x648eA9qgt8

This film has probably the most pressure on it than any other film before to match it’s predecessor. This is the first trailer, the second one (which will probably air in spring '12) will likely be an improvement. It at least looks good but I’m not stunned by it the way others seem to be reacting to it already.

Also the trailer for Prometheus drops on Thursday. This is a sneak peak sort of thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=FQZ7BHt_COo

Is it just me or is it completely devoid of any serious “wow” factor?

I was never excited by the whole Bane storyline he is the most boring of the villains.

Kind of like “the Phoenix saga” in X-Men it just left me cold…

I’m happy that we got two movies with my favorite villain The Scarecrow (even if they twisted his storyline a bit) so I can’t complain…

My guess is that they have more impressive footage in “storage” that will be used in the second trailer or kept for the film itself. That last bit with the bat plane chase seemed a bit lame to me. And I hope that fight sequence on the steps of the courthouse or whatever it was will play better in the film as it looked too choreographed in the trailer. In all probability it will be a better film than what it seems like in the trailer, which is a bit muddled.

I’m expecting BIG things from Prometheus though.

And The Hobbit trailer is set to preview soon (drools).

The trailer sucks, but a fan was fortunate enough to tape the first 5-6 mins of the movie somewhere, it was streaming in a Facebook vid days ago…

It was okay.

That was terrible.

That was good.

i think it looks great. i wonder if nolan will break the bat?

There’s a quick flash toward the end of the trailer with Bale in front Marion Cotillard and while you can’t see a cane, it certainly looks like his right arm is leaning back against one.

nice catch, also, i found this article pertinent to our interests.

i wonder if batman will have gotten his back broken, THEN 8 years pass.

i thought it was a good trailer.

call me a douche… but the whole voice thing with christian bale batman bothers me. the batman voice vs. the bruce voice. it’s too much.

Thank god this will be the last of these atrocities they call Batman movies.

I am not a fan of comic book movies, but Batman is the only one I dug. Maybe because I was raised on them.

Now, let’s be real - what’s an atrocity, Batman 1989 or Batman Begins? Granted, I wasn’t that into Batman Begins, but if you rewatch Batman 1989 it’s really bad…embarrassing at times, even.

The Dark Knight was great. So was Batman Returns, though.

well, when you hire “Mr. Mom” to play a bad ass vigilante you can’t really expect much.

I actually like the new batman movies. Although, I will admit they tend to run on the long side, But heath ledger was a fuckin sweet joker, better than that same 2 dimensional Character jack nicholson always pulls out when the director says “action”

Keaton was a good Batman, it’s just that the hammy performances of Joker Nicholson and the mixed story (Joker killing his parents? the annoying story of Robert Wuhl and Vicki Vale for no reason? etc) were just campy.

Great direction, though. Tim Burton was great. The thing is, times have changed and those movies were just a step in the right direction, nothing more.

At the time I thought Keaton was ok but I only had adam west to compare him to. But since bale has portrayed wayne i think he has made Keaton look as campy as west used to look. the part tham makes me giggle even still is when keaton breaks that firgurine or whatever at vales apt. and yells “you wanna get nuts then lets get nuts!” at the joker… god what a horrible line read, what horrible dialogue.

I will give Burton credit for the set design and direction. I still think the lighting and set design is still untouchable. The closest thing to an actual comic book setting come to life.

Everything you just said was why I thought Batman 1989 was…campy. That scene was the worst. That, and the scene with Jack Palace and Joker. Ridiculous. And of course, the scene where he fell in the chemicals.

Batman Begins wasn’t that great, either, but it was for its time. Re-watch it one day - notice every “action” scene is just a blurry mess, with no real action to speak of? And it’s an ACTION movie. Silly.

Oh yeah baby…

Oh yeah.

Batman Begins wasn’t that great, either, but it was for its time.

I’ve watched it several times since the theater. It was one of the first Blu rays we bought.

I see where you’re going and your probably right… I wouldn’t say batman begins is campy but it is as slow as batman 89 is campy. I give it a concession though cause i figured it was establishing the mood of the flix to come. The Dark Knight is certainly better than “Begins” and I can’t help but wonder if they would’ve kept the franchise going had Ledger not died…I understand #3 is the last one

I thought batman begins was more drama than action. But yeah when there are fight scenes they are excessive. But meh…
I’m not a super new batman fan but I do watch them in the theater when they come out and I’m not a theater man so that says a little something. but I don’t get all crazy about it “OH MY GOD THE NEW TRAILER IS OUT!!!” that aint me… Now if slash was in it maybe it would be different!

I think where they all mess up is when they start introducing all the other DC villains. just stick with a small core group instead of trying to quickly introduce these extra elements that don’t readily fit. I don’t hold out too much hope for # three aren’t they bringing in catwoman and batwoman?? too damn cluttered now!!
Just my 2 Cents.

2 cents worth, huh?

Here’s mine.

Batman is gay. Spiderman is gay. Superman and Ironman and X-Men are gay. They’re all gay. Superheroes are gay.

The movies are gay gayness for gayfags that like gay fagginess.

That’s just my opinion, though. If you guys like them, that’s cool.

Fags.
