not sure if anyone else is interested but the Cult will be touring and playing their LOVE album in its entirety. from what i understand the tickets are going fast.
its in FLASH so i can’t copy paste the dates. Click “Live” on the left. another thing is they have a blog. and its got SunO))) in a few places in it. i’m not sure if sun is covering Cult tunes, or they’re recording together or what.
i don’t listen to suno)))n but i know more than a few of your guys are fans. check it out.
I will forever be pissy whenever I see a band I like with an Austin date. But, they are coming to Charlotte which is only about an hour from here so maybe I’ll go.
carmangary - charlotte is actually the show i’m going to. Atlanta didn’t get a date for some reason. i don’t have the plans worked out on travel. but i have my tickets. [cool]
thanks revco, yea - i’m stoked. this might be it for me with the cult - my enjoyment of them will have come fulll circle if i see that album live. i’m getting old and can’t be chasing bands around anymore. heh.
jupitreas, that’s a cool tune, and i see what you’re getting at. but i must say that when i re-discovered killing joke “Night Time” (thanks to you guys)… i found them (at that time) to really remind me of the cult (of vice-versa).
Sounds like a sweet show alright, some great pics too. It’s mad just how much alike Astbury and Morrison are. I’ve never seen them live but you mention the banter from Ian can be good, does he crack jokes or take the piss or is he just a witty guy in general?
The Phoenix show was great, hearing Big Neon Glitter and Hollow Man live was really cool. I will be scoring that Omnibus edition of Love shortly.
Comparing The Cult and The Chameleons? Apples and oranges, as far as I’m concerned. For me personally, I’m a bigger Chams fan, but the early SDC/DC/Cult years produced some classic stuff. I’m probably in the minority thinking that Rick Rubin ruined the Peace sessions by drying up those songs and turning them into AC/DCult.
thanks guys. yea - i had an amazing night. mick, the best way i can explain the banter is that Ian is very sarcastic, smart-ass and a bit “punk”. all in one.
Listening to the 9.14.09 show. What a kick ass show. Slack…it must have been great. Ian tells the audience to put away the phones and enjoy a real rock n roll experience.
Question:
My wife & I are listening to this and she was at the 6.2.87 show (THE RITZ). I asked who opened up and she said Motorhead. I can’t seem to verify this. Anyone know who opened up. She said the show was great…big Goth feel & calm.
i can’t seem to verify if motorhead played, but i have set lists from that leg. billy idol opened the month previous, but i can’t verify that motorhead DIDN’T open at the ritz show.
Yea the show was great. I also ordered that Love re-release with 4 disks (omnibus edition). i should have it in the mail the next few days. also revco, they are recording a few of the shows and selling FLASH drives of some of the shows. board mix.
