So, I’m finally releasing The Corrugation’s debut album ‘Between Hope and Fear’ on October 2nd. The first single “The Darkest Place” is now available as a free download (multiple formats) here:
The single has been getting steady airplay on Phoenix radio over the past week (at least twice a day, crazy), so it’s been an exciting time for me as I finally finish this long overdue project. The artwork below is for the cardboard jacket for the physical CD (only ordered 100, already running out).
As always, your feedback is appreciated. The b-side is an instrumental titled “Veiled Truth”.
The CD singles are free, so if you want one, definitely pm me your address, and I’ll fire one off. I’m sending out a bunch via snail mail this week. The album will only be $5 when it comes out. I will say that in hindsight, I think we could have mastered the single a little louder, as it’s more or or less at the sound level of a CD from the 80s. Definitely not a loudness war victim Still, it sounds really good, pretty happy with this promo.
If anything, just mix the single louder on the promos and keep it normal on the LP. Just say no to loudness wars, and a big THANK YOU to not supporting such shit these days. It’s getting tired.
Nice, didn’t have to ask for FLAC. The Darkest Place is pretty solid, reminds me a bit of the first album VAST material for some reason. Veiled Truth had a bit more industrial instrumental feel ala Ministry/NIN (the good stuff for either) which I liked a lot too.
Mentioned it on FB but I’ll mention it here too, this EP is really good. The A-Side is a strong gothic rock track and the b-side is like old Wax Trax. I hope you do an extended mix at some point!
I’ll probably use Veiled Truth as intro music for the live shows next year, maybe extend the beginning with the 808 loop. I just had a killer 8-hour marathon in the studio tonight with my co-producer, mixing songs. Tomorrow we are completing mixdown and mastering of the album, and it goes to production this week. Can’t wait to finally release this damned thing!
Regarding the vocals. they aren’t horrible or even bad but I would say that they should probably be a little more buried in the mix. They sit right on top of everything and are louder than everything else and maybe add a little more bass to them because this is a decently dark enough sounding song but the vocals come off as so bright sounding.
It’s good though. I look forward to the physical copy.
I certainly like the drums in veiled truth
