The Corrugation - Run For Cover Concert 9/27 (Audio)

March in the firing squad!

So, my little bedroom industrial band was converted into a rock/alternative cover band over the summer, solely for playing a huge party thrown at my house on Sept. 27th. We had a keg of Spaten Oktoberfest, a ton of guests, and a full-production gig, complete with a video backdrop, fog, lights, etc. It was all just for fun. The set list was a compromise of all the alternative stuff I like, and the other members’ rock tastes. As strange as the mix is, the set flowed well, and everyone had a blast.

The audio is surprisingly good, considering it’s the mic from the camera used to film us. I’ll be uploading video to my Facebook page in about a week (yes, I got sucked into Facebook). Check out what you like, I know some of these songs are a little odd for this forum.

I think we did well, considering it was only 2-1/2 months of programming sequences on my synth, learning guitar and vocals, and working with two other vocalists and a bass player. We only had two rehearsals with our drummer, who drove down from Henderson, CO, prior to the show. It was great fun, and the keg didn’t make it to midnight!

Jizz, we had Subdivisions planned, but it didn’t make the cut. Bravado went over pretty well (despite the sloppy ending). Highlights were the Fixx, Church and Cure songs.

As soon as I saw Wire I was downloading. ‘Ahead’ is a great song, would love to see it played (with a few in drinks in me too)

Ever tried ‘Drill’?

For ‘Comfortably Numb’ I think the snare was too loud and not enough bass, but Im fairly fussy with this song as its my favourite. It sounded like it was going to get really worked up with the solo at the end when it was cut off, would liked to have heard how it went.

Thanks, Mick. Yeah, the sound was tricky. We had a good mix most of the night, but we were playing in a house with tile floors, and our drummer (who wasn’t mic’d at all) had to ‘play to the room’, but I’m not surprised if he got louder as the show went on. We had to crank the other instruments pretty good to get an even mix. I think the bass definitely could’ve been a little louder during the whole thing. Not bad for what’s essentially an audience recording, we’ll take it. My friend played guitar and sang Numb, and he played a good solo at the end. I was sitting on the floor nursing a huge stein at that point! The cut-off songs are a bummer, but the video cam tapes just ran out of space, unfortunately.

Oh, btw, never tried Drill, but I’d like to play Kidney Bingos or Eardrum Buzz sometime, I dig those poppier Wire tracks.

Dude, you didn’t tell me you were covering the Lorries… DAMN. Had I known, I’d’ve blown off everyone and shown up. [;)]

Absolutely. The latter has a great lively feel to it, the former was the first Wire song I heard. Both would be great to play. ‘One of Us’ is a brilliant song that would also be great live. Its currently the most played song on my mp3.

Oh, by the way, is The Corrugation website still up? Was looking to download ‘Headfuck’ from it if possible.

I’ll hook you up with that one, the site is still down at the moment.

cool setlist…thanks for the links.

rushes gayest song though:
[url “http://www.mediafire.com/?dcgeytminmy”]RUSH • BRAVADO (1002 - guitar)

wow…this sounds really good. stand & fall was perfect!

4 band members?

Thanks, Revco. 5 - myself, the drummer, my sister (on Siouxsie and Propaganda), a vocal/gtr/bassist, and another friend who played bass on a few of the rock songs. Stand Or Fall got the best crowd response, though I did fuck up that little guitar part in the first chorus (wrong fret, guh). It’s far from pro, but it came together well, considering the time we had, and some other circumstances. We actually had an industrial encore planned, with I Prefer, I Will Refuse, Testure, Halloween, Hearts and Minds, and a couple of originals, but it was almost 11:30, and we were ready to party with everyone else, so it was scratched.

Aw, come on, Bravado’s great! I like the changes, and it has that U2-ish 8th-note driving rhythm…besides it’s one of their easier songs to play! You can’t say that song is gayer than Roll The Bones, with the freakin’ rap in the middle, that’s pretty awful.

1002

funny you say that…I hear roll the bones like 2 hrs ago on (bone yard) xm.
