This is the weirdest “tour.” You guys may know better than me, you usually do, but fucking Baltimore? Was there or is there some kind of throwback industrial scene?

Why play Houston and fly to SF that night or the next day? Austin? Dallas? C’mon! Why go to California and only play SF?

Nope, we’re gonna fly to Tampa, and then Baltimore, Baby! These dudes haven’t read Martin Atkins “Tour Like a Dickhead” books. But, seriously they’re blasting jetfuel like crazy all over our beautiful skies. For what? An hour set? That’s a steamy environmental poop bag.

I guess since Barker is the only dude who can play a real instrument, he just carries it around and they rent equipment in all the different cities? Jesus.

I had an interest in driving to Houston from Dallas and catching the show. But, as it happens, I’ve got a Rigor Mortis anniversary show and Dinosaur Jr that same night in Dallas.

Gunnar is gonna hate me, but I’m going to Dinosaur Jr.

I would take Dino Jr. any day of the week…in fact,I just saw them in Philly and they burned it up as usual…new album is great and growing with each listen…

Yeah, Baltimore is a strange one - 30 miles from DC ffs! I have played there years ago, and Ottobar sucks compared to DC clubs. I don’t find the appeal of the town, either.

At $25 for ticket I don’t think they’re doing it for the money. It seems like a USA round trip tour, maybe they know someone in baltimore - who knows. It’s tha cocks man!

Dude, I really wanna check them out. But, I just ain’t doing the Houston trip, because of my other options and wanting to go to the Houston Open Air festival a few weeks later. I wish the Cocks were playing more dates and more cities so I didn’t have to pick and choose.

If they can book Baltimore and fuckstick Tampa, they can probably book any city. Why not do it for all of us and our hog bitch girlfriends?

When I lived in that Orlando area it was surprisingly into the alternative goth/industrial scene. A lot more so than Austin, TX as a matter of fact. So, Tampa seems like a pretty good choice to me. I have no explanation for Baltimore other than maybe someone’s mistress lives there.[/reply]

What years did you live in Orlando,DJ? I lived in that hell hole for 3 years in the early 90’s…hated every minute of it…

It’s all about the Promoters. Baltimore must have a great Promoter that likes this kind of music. That’s why there’s a show there.

If they’re not playing your town, it’s most likely because your town has shitty Promoters.

^not trying to be argumentative, but are you saying that LA, Boston, Philadelphia and other large to large-ish markets have shitty promoters and that’s why they’re not playing those cities?

Yes. Ministry hasn’t played a proper LA date since 2012. Skinny Puppy was gone for years and only recently got back to LA. Otherwise, they are playing in Pomona or Anaheim.

Sure there are still plenty of great shows here, but obviously “industrial” music isn’t favored that much.

And there is no LA date for The Cocks either.

^yeah, I mentioned LA because it seemed conspicuously absent from the list.

You’re probably right about promoters. I know I get frustrated with Dallas promoters often.

But, I wonder if it’s just an overall lack of demand. It’s also surprising they’re not doing 2 Chicago dates. I figured that would be their bread and butter hometown show.

Yeah, ultimately “demand” dictates everything. But it helps if your local fan is a promoter. It seems somebody is in Tampa. I don’t have time to look it up now, but last year Front 242 did one of these little mini-tours, and it was random-ass cities like this one.

Was there '86-'87 during the Navy and then '97-'99. I moved back in the late 90s because I thought it was fun the first time. But, after living there awhile and doing all the tourist things I realized there wasn’t anything to do other than go to bars and get stuck in traffic. I’d never move back.[/reply]

I went there for school so was stuck there for a few years and you nailed it…nothing to do but bad bars and sit in traffic,if you aren’t into the tourist crap…no money in the world could make me move back there…blech…

There is still a pretty active scene in Tampa/St. Pete, more so than Orlando.
All the FL bats migrated over there.

I’m debating going to Tampa, but I will be at CWV.

I really like seeing shows at Jannus Landing in St Pete…with the State Theater right around the corner…heading up there in Nov for a show…

It’s just wherever promoters gave them a good offer.
I’ll be at the NYC Stimulate. Looking forward.

See ya tonight!!!

Indeed, I will see you all tonight. If you want to say hello, I’ll be wearing my glow-in-the-dark “The Sword” t-shirt.

I’ll be wearing a zildjian shirt…
