Okay, this waiting game is really getting old. [mad]
Does anybody have any kind of real information on when Rykodisc is going to get the “fixed” version of Side Trax out so we can listen to this CD for REAL?
I will say I talked to Rykodisc on the phone probably 2 months ago now, and they told me two things I wanted to know:
the Industrial Family Platter freebie disc is NOT going to be repressed for the sake of fixing the monaural tracks on it (I don’t have it anyway, so oh well), and:
Rykodisc was (supposedly) in the midst of repressing Side Trax with the sound fixed at that point, and we should expect to hear about it soon.
Well, not a word from anywhere, and here it is 5 months after the flawed release came out… and still their website doesn’t even admit they screwed it up.
All right, I just got off the phone with Rykodisc, and apparently they have been sending out replacement discs to everyone they know of. Somehow I got missed, even though I’ve e-mailed and called at least 3 times. But they were very apologetic and polite, and my disc is going out today.
So if any of you have contacted Rykodisc before about disc replacement and haven’t received yours yet, you might want to try giving them a call. Try the number on the Artist Catalog section of their website, www.rykodisc.com.
Good luck, and I’ll be playing mine at full volume when it arrives next week!
Rykodisc sent me an e-mail a month or two ago saying that they fixed the Side Trax! CD. They then told me to email them at earful@rykogroup.com and tell them where I purchased my mono copy of Side Trax! along with my home address. They then shipped the stereo copy to me 2-4 weeks later.
I assume it's safe now to buy Side Trax! CDs from stores now, but I wouldn't chance it yet. I do happen to share an actual stereo copy of Side Trax! on soulseek though. If you want, you can at least download it there.
I contacted them with the e-mail you guys provided on Sunday, and today I got my new copy of the CD. Fuckin’ fast, which is very cool, they even let me keep my old mono copy of side trax. It also helps their located in Boston and I live about 1/2 an hour away…but, it was much faster than I expected.
I finally received mine, I guess it was Tuesday as well. Listened to it in the car… definitely sounds a lot better. Nice to hear “Show Me Your Spine” in stereo at last, and to get the panning effects in “My Favorite Things” once again.
Now, when do we get another installment? How about one called “Lost Trax”, filled with stuff that never saw the light of day?
