TGWOTR - How Exquisite

Came home today after a long day at work. Plopped on the couch and noted nothing worthwhile on the tube (aside from 'ol Frank Costanza on a new sitcom). Looked through the DVD collection and found SP’s TGWORTR. Hadn’t bothered to watch it before so I popped it in. The TV’s next to the X-mas tree… how ironic this turned out to be. Excellent video. Makes me want to go see the latest tour. If only Al and his buddies would bother to do such a production…

Cheers.

Great DVD. Shitty editing, imo. But I guess could be said of Sphinctour…

Funny, I popped that in the other night. Good DVD, I wish they’d shot it in HD, it pixelates here and there on my 60", but the sound is great. Good to pop in when nothing is on the tube.

1002

Every fucking time I go to my local Hastings, I find this bitch in the exact same spot, just screaming “BUY ME.” However, I never have, often picking up a used record or five instead. Think I actually should force myself to get this next time.

I think it’s an awesome dvd…his vocals took some getting used to though when playing the older songs. The euro-trauma footage was pretty nice as well.

The second disc is the real treasure. Although Jim Van Bebber’s footage of the Too Dark Park tours and Last Rights is way too short. It blows my mind that there are a dozen or so pre 1990 live SP videos floating around some of these are excellent, and only one terrible quality TDP show from Detroit exists.

Although the Last Rights show was bigger in scope, TDP was the most intense thing I’ve ever seen. I remember a lot of live video interaction with the crowd happening during the actual show. Video cameras catching the audience from behind, Ogre with some weird mask that had a camera built into it, and the chair of no cares that had one set behind Ogre’s head when he sat in it. Ogre would close these mirrored shutters and the camera would catch the reflection of his face in them which would pop up on the video screens.

TGWOTR was a good throw back to the earlier shows I imagine it would be somewhat what they had in mind if they had toured for the Process album, a complete information overload. The Mythrus tour I liked even better.

I havent seen TGWOTR, is it better than the Video Collection 84-92? which only has 8 videos and i dont see how its a collection.

Well TGWOTR is a live show filmed in Toronto 2004, and has some 20 songs on it.

The video collection has only 8 videos on it as that was all the official videos Sp had made at the time. Worlock was not included on it as they couldn’t afford to pay for all the film clips used in it, same thing with the Rash Reflection video which included the broadcast of the Bud Dwyer suicide. Its a shame the three Process clips have not been officially released as they are pretty cool.

And Montreal! [:)]

IMHO this is the best live dvd in exsistence. it couold only be made better (as it was stated earlier) if it was shot in HD. i ripped the audio from this and made a cd out of it. good stuff.
