The redneck list Peligro has been waiting for from me.
these are the standouts that still unlock some pretty vivid memories and/or are the solid staples that I still listen to today
Guns N’ Roses - Appetite For Destruction
Aerosmith - Permenent Vacation
Tesla - Five man Acoustical Jam
Queensryche - Empire
NIN - Pretty Hate Machine
Nirvana - Nevermind
Circle Jerks - VI
Danzig - Lucifuge
Ministry - Psalm 69
Tori Amos - Under the Pink
as a bonus I’d throw in:
Primus - Sailing The Seas Of Cheese
Rage Against The Machine - Rage Against The Machine

The missus pumps those first two quite often when we’re driving, Grmpy. Appetite would be my fave of the two, although I must say I find only about half of each album enjoyable. The other half I stomach politely because I often force her to listen to Chrome and Throbbing Gristle amongst other things.
Wow! You are the first person I’ve heard say this. I s’pose I could see why someone would not like them. They are certainly odd music, they sound like no one else. So, I guess if you aren’t into that or the fact that the vocals sound like Ross Perot, then there is no appeal at all to them. Good thing, for you, Les Claypool pretty much ran his course 14 years ago!
I know what it feels like to hate a band to the point of anger … Enter, Bel Biv Devoe, and REM
As far as the first 2 on the list, I agree that half of the Permenent Vacation album is a not that great ( too bad they’re scattered about the the cd though) the half that is good though is great. I think “Hangman Jury” and “Angel” being my faves!
I only dislike 2 songs on Appetite
“Think About You” and “Anything Goes” -trivia “Think About You” was a throw away song because “November rain” wasn’t finished and “Don’t Cry” didn’t fit with the album!
2,3,4,7 I barely listen too anymore (I can go years) cause it instantly transports me back to jr. high and high school and some of those memories/feelings I don’t care to remember. I just remember those were some fantastic albums that made those times bearable.
now that I think about it, it’s been years since I’ve listened to Nevermind as a whole. I catch the odd song here and there on the radio but I couldn’t tell ya when the last time I spun that whole cd was, even at the time that album was released that whole cd just makes ya depressed.
You’re pretty nice to compromise, though. Especially if your missus doesn’t dig on The gristle!

Oh yes.
I never thought we had similar taste in music.
HOWEVER…
…replace ‘For Your Pleasure’ with ‘Roxy Music’ and ‘English Settlement’ with ‘Skylarking’ and we’re done.
Oh and as for Black Sabbath - I’m starting to like the later 70s stuff alot more than the earlier material so I’d agree with the ‘Never Say Die’ and ‘Technical Ecstasy’ bit.
‘Vol 4’ is essential though as is ‘Black Sabbath’.
Never like ‘Paranoid’ much and ‘Master Of Reality’ is ruined by that stupid After Forever track where they - inexplicably - start preaching the merits of Christianity. And Into The Void is just plain stupid.
…replace ‘For Your Pleasure’ with ‘Roxy Music’ and ‘English Settlement’ with ‘Skylarking’ and we’re done.
FYP and RM were really a toss-up anyway. I probably love Skylarking a bit more but didn’t want my picks to sound too Rundgren-centric…so I went with ES.
Outside of music yes. I’ve heard his latest album is actually heavy though. Read a review that said its his best since No More Tears. And if Ozzy truly did piss his legacy away he did it a lot better than Al. Except the WOW commercial
