i am a fan of tattoos, however i am NOT a fan of people talking on and on and on about their tattoos, their friends tattoos, the tattoos that they want to get, or their friends who are tattoo artists who will hook them up with free tattoos and what those tattoos will be when they get the time to get more tattoos.

but i am also a fan of body modification in general if done with class and reverence for the artform.

I hate when someone explains how his/her tat has some meaning. One of my associates from work was with us at a bar when we were on business travel and someone commented on his tattoo which was on his arm. It was some stupid Asian character or something. He quickly explained to us that it was the symbol for the “OHM” and that he wanted a tattoo “with meaning”. Mind you I’m sure he’s never done any meditation or joined a Tibetan monastery or anything. He’s just a big douche white guy.

Meaning? I don’t think some, Bubbs! The only meaning to that stupid tattoo is that you went into Tattoos’R’Us one night with your douchey frat brothers and pointed at the wall and asked for design #62G.

Another guy I used to be friends with got his Horoscope sign tattooed on his forearm. It wasn’t even a picture of a ram bull mermaid pig or whatever the heck a Capricorn is . . . . it was a SYMBOL for it and looked like a damn 76. I asked him, “Is that when you were born or something?” Nope, it was his Zodiac sign.

So I stopped being friends with him.

When I finally decide to get my tattoo(s)

If someone asks what it means or symbolizes
