They’re at it again

Is there any realistic way of stopping this sort of thing from happening? Or is the area just doomed?
I can only think that for someone to carry out such heinous actions for such miserable reasons that you would have to be pure insane. How can these guys function with a semblance of normality or do they just live in a mad trance all the time?
it’s disgusting, for sure, but it’s not something the west could change. there must be a cultural revolution from the inside. it’s the ONLY way, and that takes time.
take iran, for example. after the u.s and u.k overthrew their first democratically elected government, they imposed a puppet shah, who forced liberal values on the people. the result was the 1979 “revolution” which brought in extreme islamism.
lesson? let the people deal with it themselves. any western meddling will only makes matters worse, and give further political ammunition to these extremist groups.

This is absolutely the right answer. which is why many of us scoffed at Cheney when he declared “We’ll be greeted as liberators.”

THIS is the ONLY way for a situation like this to settle itself. The only time Western meddling is effective is when our help is directly asked for. Other than that our “help” always does more harm than good.

of course it won’t end. it’s a business.
There isn’t a solution that just fixes the problem, just like that. We tried to intervene, and it had disastrous results. As long as they’re not causing any actual harm to US, I say let them be, and let them sort it out (which probably won’t happen…). I just don’t think that the U.S. needs to really get involved with them anymore. When they start acting up again towards us, then we should get involved. But it’s not like that.
