This is what inspired me at the time.
this is awesome…thanks.
This is a huge part of my musical upbringing. Thanks for sharing!
Great documentary!
Thanks for the link.
The Normal…never heard his stuff…gonna check them out!
I remember when I was in high school I used to pretend my bed was a synthesizer and I would rock out with it while I listened to synth-pop music. I was so cool.
Haha! I’ve done that. heh
Warm Leatherette is great!
I think the Normal only released one single but it was quite ground breaking. I also have a few covers of warm leatherette, by sleep chamber, chicks on speed and one with Trent Reznor and Peter Murphy.
And I had no idea of this J.G Ballard connection, but now seems obvious of course.
I used to strap an ironing board to my chest and pretend it was a keytar.
OK, not really.
The Normal had one single, yes. Warm Leatherette was the A-side and TVOD was the B-side. A true shame there was so little output from D. Miller as an actual artist, though the Silicon Kids stuff is pretty amusing too (but with vox by Frank Tovey aka Fad Gadget).
