Are any of you going to SXSW in Austin? I never paid much attention to it until a couple of minutes ago when I went to check out who is playing and was completely blown away by all the bands I would like to see. But, the price is crazy ($695 for a music pass?!?!). Screw that.
I didn’t check all of the bands. Connelly, Barker, anyone else who else is lurking on here, are you involved with any of the shows there this year?
Can’t go wrong with Echo…although I was a bit disappointed by their Siberia album. The old stuff will easily make up for that though. Sounds like a good time.
Is he actually going to be here? Well, I have always liked his hair and striped shirt. But the bands I saw on the schedule that I would like to see are Tori Amos, Circle Jerks, Peter Murphy, and Echo and the Bunnymen. There could be more. I only glanced at the Wed and Thur schedules.
Saw the circle jerks about 15 years ago in bakersfield ca. in a converted Porn theater. there was maybe 150 people there! good times good times! got them to sign my cd of VI keith clark (the drummer) was an awesomely cool dude!
a little sad i never got to see tori tour her under the pink album but i had insanely over protective parents so there was no way i was going to see any concert when i was a sophomore in high school!

Martin does a bunch of "i’m martin atkins at SXSW"videos every year… i think for suicide girls. Basically goes around saying what he’d do different to go with his whole “toursmart” thing. which is actually a good book
tori did a tour opening for alanis around 2001
I think the shows you want to see are general public shows anyway. It’s not like tori is going there to get signed or anything
no way in hell at sxsw. well. if rieflin were doing something with peter murphy, but he’s not.
bill IS doing some upcoming robyn hitchcock show in austin at antone’s.
sxsw shows are soldout to people with passes for anything good. the general public can see hundreds of truly mediocre bands and pretend to care because so much press descends upon austin during that time. the only fun i’ve ever had visiting austin during sxsw was seeing support bands and hanging out with the usual suspect journalistic types.
i gotta hand it to martin. he’s managed to bs his way into just about everything based upon his teeny tiny career as a marcel marceau fashion stealing sidekick.
(look up the pictures folks)

agreed. pigface/ministry/nin drummer gets mentioned in every article to describe who this guy is.
really though it’s an excellent style choice that shirt… i mean he’s one step away from looking like a fisherman, give him a little zorro mask and a knit hat and he’s a old school black and white movie criminal, he’s a step away from a pirate (argh matey)… that shirt is like the swiss army knife of fashion
