I dont think i said sound garden sucks. If i did i was being an intentional dick and not serious. The only band i really hate is rem. other than that i don’t rip on anybody’s music unless it’s peligro professing love for a band but again thats cause he’s so anti everything.
You go ahead and say slash sucks. Other people like him, so they’re smart.
SOUNDGARDEN SUCKS AND CHRIS CORNELL SUCKS!!!
Fags.

Bannds I like to rip on:
The Prodigy
The Manic Street Preachers
Marilyn Manson
Iron Maiden
Queensryche
Dream Theater
Rush
Nickelback
Oasis
anything even remotely numetal (inc. Deftones)
Trivium
Silverchair
Anything else I dislike I don’t really even care about. But mention those bands and I will rip. Believe me I will rip.

That’s fine. I’m not going to go on 600 word essay or continue for page after page about how they suck. We’re not the same you and I.

With the exception of Maiden, yeah, that’s a list of horribly awful crap. Some of the bands I don’t think I’ve ever even heard, though.

Lucky you.

Liking so far. Has a very late 90’s era Sonic Youth feel to it (think A Thousand Leaves). Especially the second disc. More laid back than The Seer, I think. Even the song titles are very Sonic Youthish.
Can’t wait for this to drop. How great do Nathalie Neal and Just A Little Boy sound ! Excited.

Not gunna listen til release date. I roo-ind the experience with The Seer last time by caving in and listening early. Not gunna make the same mistake twice.
But this is probably my 2014 most anticipated.

Aww. No Arctic Monkeys? I love ripping that band to shreds. It’s fun.
New Swans is excellent. A league ahead of the last effort, which was largely a misfire.
It’s a more nuanced and refined album; it still has lengthy blasts of power, but it’s a much smarter approach than the tiring ‘wildness’ of Gira on The Seer.
To Be Kind is the best thing from Swans since its reformation.
She Loves Us for the win. That is the tune they absolutely just friggin drilled into our skulls here in Edinburgh last year that made me insanely excited about this LP. Just listened to stream and discovered the name of the song. When that rhythm finally comes in it’s just awesome. When I heard it live the rhythm reminded me of a slightly sped up version of Lava but a thousand times heavier.
If you’re weak and want to listen to at least one song from the stream make it She Loves Us…the shit hits the fan just after the 8 minute mark.
Yeah, I’m gonna wait impatiently until Tuesday.

Me too…

It’s a cool song. I don’t see a radical difference between this sound and ‘The Seer’ though. Will have to listen to the whole album.
Ok just listened all the way through via NPR link above. Consider my mind fucking BLOWN! This is definitely the album that the new, more jammy Swans sound was building up to and they reached it here. Very engaging and you just sink in. Hearing one song isolated doesn’t really make sense. This is definitely a really cohesive thing and needs to be taken in that way. Very psychedelic and sprawling. Beautiful. Hypnotic. Grand.
Is it made for repeated listens? We’ll see…It’s a big undertaking. Easily digestible songwriting has never been Gira’s thing but he basically embraces the strengths of his jamming direction here to the point where you don’t care and you just float in it.
I think he’s doing the right thing diving in headfirst with this direction rather than trying to compromise it by also having standalone singles buried in there or whatever.
Wall-era Pink Floyd this is not.
I hope that makes sense…
