Just watched this classic movie - tell me, where exactly can I hear that famous “Stop it!” sample?
I’ve been listening carefully through the whole movie and found nothing.
Its in there all right. Cant remember where though (something tells me its a scene involving a blind man or a man with dark glasses). There may be different versions which might explain the abscence of the line in the version you saw. I cant believe that this film is revered as one of the best horror films around as its a complete joke. One of the dullest and most tame “horror” films ive seen.
It’s got a hypnotic score, some of the best technicolor since Vertigo, and an amazing first kill in a horror movie. What is there not to like?
re: the scene in question, it’s when the blind pianist is yelling at the head madam, sometime near the half-hour mark.
Ok, now I know it too…
But I’m even more confused - I have original Italian version and no one speaks English there… so blind man yells" Basta!" in it.
So is there some English dubbed version?
Suspiria is good, but Deep Red is better.
And anything he’s made after the 80’s is amazingly bad.

I could be wrong but I think the whole thing is dubbed, sans the score and sound effects. There are some scenes that look like they are speaking English, and some definitely not. I believe “Danger: Diabolik!” was another one of those films that did this. I dunno.
