It seems a lot of us are having trouble finding admirable qualities in the newer Ministry material which seems to be “bumming the trips” of the moderators and some of the more sentimental of our members.
My suggestion is to segregate this board into smaller discussion ghettos…
For example, set up a Jesu board! Half of the people who post here seem to pleasure themselves to their music on a regular basis! (I know, it’s good!) But seriously, I’ve heard a lot more positivity and enthusiasm on this board about Jesu than I’ve heard about Ministry in a long time!
And why not set up a board for USSA! That disc is really growing on me! It takes a few spins but I must say it is quite impressive. Might as well have a NIN board as well. His name is dropped quite often in these parts.
And of course have a dedicated Ministry forum. People that want to talk about the synth-fairy days can start and discuss those topics. People that want to bitch about how truly awful things have become can discuss that as well! Isn’t there a setting where you can block a user’s post’s on this forum software as well?
IMO, once Ministry disbands this forum will have to re-invent itself to stay fresh and relevant. These are just some ideas…
When I came here the other day, there actually was a separate Jesu board, but later on it was gone. Maybe Afra was toying with the idea and changed his mind?
…and I think Ministry should be kept in one board, no real need to split up one band.
A USSA board is a good idea, or why not just a Paul Barker board so that it includes Pink Anvil, Blackouts and Lead Into Gold discussion?
Yeah I did set up a Jesu section but more for interest, however, I prefer less navigating. If this board was setup into different sections, it’d be too much to go from one discussion to another. I prefer it this way where one can see everything going on at once. And I like it that nothing is categorized here.
It’s a good idea but if you think about it, it’d be too much overhead. Which bands deserve a forum of their own, etc, etc.
i agree. make two ministry sections. 1981-2003 and 2003-…

This is only a small board, if it’s sliced up there may not be enough butter to spread around evenly.
nonono, it’s not that i can’t “rub along”. it’s just because on this particular board everything is fine (lol) but then “why all the slagging” posts pop up from time to time. i was just suggesting it for those people who hate all the ministry “slagging” here. but come to think of it, it’s redundant because genereally there are actually two camps already - pissarmy and prongs, and as some people already said it’s been like this for who knows how long and it’s not broken so it doesn’t need any fixing.
and as for pissarmy there is a mirrored situation… “why prongs forum hates ministry guts” threat just appeared a day ago or something like that… so i guess that won’t stop here or there.
Yeah, I just read the “Why Does Prongs Hate Ministrys Guts?” thread - shame because people only tend to see what they want to see with this forum.
A lot of those members are members here and they lurk (as many people lurk on Piss Army) but it seems there’s a lot of generalizing and it’s not as if that board has never had threads against Ministry in a very trolling manner.
That forum was first started by Ministry’s then management company. The trial software they used for the forum ran out, and the company turned their back on it. Therefore, I took it up and hosted everything and moved everyone over (and I still host it). Then, from the users there, there was just constant slamming against me (even though I had done nothing but banned some trolls, as I have done here). I just gave up and decided to give admin to some other people which worked out great. But I will tell you first hand that there were a much larger troll-base over there, what with people fighting, posting dirty pictures, slamming people constantly, etc. It’s cleaned up now thanks to the people running it there. It would’ve been a full time job otherwise.
I truly think it’s just different fan bases - mainly the older (here) vs. the newer - as Revco pointed out on that thread over there. People here love to discuss about the old Ministry vinyl from way back or a bootleg video they found on the net (there’s a discussion here about the mp3 files for download and someone has requested a ‘work for love’ mix from an 83 concert). There, it’s mostly about the new stuff (just scan the “Ministry” forum over there). Nothing wrong with that - just a different style. Piss Army’s main traffic (at least used to be) are in the “Rants” forum, which has little relevance to Ministry. There is little mention of Paul’s new outfit there… It’s just two different cultures and both cultures need not mix with one another and it’s fine the way it is. I don’t really visit PA (anything important from there is posted here anyhow)…
I don’t know why there is this bickering about it all - luckily it’s not as much from this board. If people decide to scan over some threads and decide we’re a Ministry hating thread, so be it. Little do they know that the most detailed Ministry discography, most detailed tour details, rare mp3 downloads, and so much more - are all contributions from members on this forum. Some there do reference the site when people ask some questions, so it’s not fair to say all but a lot. Many have been visiting this site/forum since '94 - that’s over 10 years. Is that something Ministry haters would do?
“i signed up on prongs for like 1 hour…the people were so nasty on there i gave up on it…” and “someone should have warned me! i promise i won’t lurk there again, i swear, i won’t go back. and i’ll be nice and not register to respond to the garbage being spewed over there.” - is that really honestly true? Honestly? I guess I don’t see it. I’m not being sarcastic - just haven’t seen hostility like those comments suggests. Hope it’s not like that here…
hmm, as a really long time lurker here myself, I’m aware of the now and then Al bashing, but most of that is just discontent with his current output. Taste is taste. As for flaming a user, unless it’s apparent it’s a troll (or just trolling-ish thread or post) I haven’t seen much outright hostility. As for ‘old vs new’ that might be true to a certain extent. It’s far worse in some other band/fan boards I visit.
