Need some tech advice guys.
I have a bunch of AVI files that I want to burn onto DVD but ROXIO Media Creator and NERO burning CD absolutely REFUSE to put them on DVD for me. are there any free programs that will accomplish this task for me?
thanks

Just convert the video to another format…that Nero likes.

was kinda hoping to avoid that. don’t really want to go through and extra step just want to burn and then watch on normal TV

On Nero there should be an option for Nero Express, use this rather than Nero CD. Choose “Data DVD”, click on “add”, select the files you want to burn to a blank dvd, and burn. That’s the way i burn AVIs to disc anyway, but it took a bit of fucking about fruitlessy with Nero to find it. I’m not much of a tech man, to be honest, but that save any conversion hassle.

With a Data DVD the avi will be the same file, and of course it can hold more info than if you were burning an avi file as a regular DVD. The only drawback of doing this is most DVD players won’t play them, although if you have a PS3 it will. Not sure about XBox 360.

the 360 will play alot of the codec you throw at it. the ps3, in my experience, plays much more. also, you can get media boxes with a usb port and hdmi out at best buy for like 60 bucks nowadays. we use one at work for trailers and shit, and they are juast video clips i put on a usb drive and hit play. works great, looks as good as the source vid allows.

It won’t be like a regular dvd with menu sorta thing, but it will let you put loads of stuff on the disc, and lots of dvd players can play it. Some can’t, though, i suppose it’s just a matter of hitting your menu button on the dvd remote and checking it out. Like the guys say, XBox 360 will play a lot, but the PS3 plays more, and it may just be easier putting it onto a memory stick and plugging into the XBox, PS3 or DVD (if you have a fancy DVD player, which i don’t!) and playting straight from the USB stick.

thanks guys
