Have any of you guys purchased any live streaming concerts that artists/bands have been putting on? I’ve done 2 so far and am going to do the Down 25th anniv of NOLA show this Sat night…already did a Greg Dulli one and a Steel Panther one…we watch then up at my friends big ass house and he has all these trippy lights and a giant screen and a bad ass system…and he bought a smoke machine…so we try our best to recreate a concert as close as we can…gotta work with what ya got…I sure as hell miss live music but these have been as close as you can get…just curious if anyone else has ordered any…
Voivod did one a few weeks back, and I purchased a ticket. It was basically them doing a set from their studio, not a full concert with lights or anything. Was still pretty cool.
Oh yeah I heard about that one after the fact…probably would have ordered it…
In the days of youtube I have zero interest in paying to watch a studio stream but I’ll probably cave in for the Down one to support them and since last time I saw them I won my ticket in a contest. Wish I knew if I can play it on my PS4 though. Sounds like you watch them a pretty awesome way.
I totally called this!!
I knew that this is where this was headed.
buy a “ticket”= Special web address to watch the show. Another link gets you in line for the merch booth.
This sucks but I understand.
I have zero interest.
Less than zero, even, since it all just makes me angry. I totally sympathize with everyone in the industry and even admire their efforts, but it ain’t for me.
I wanna pound beers in the parking lot, flip off opening bands, and get rowdy in the pit. This virtual reality Total Recall remote concert bullshit can fuck off. Partying with some neighbors like Grumps described sounds like fun, but that’s not a concert. It’s a party.
Anyway, cheers to all of y’all and have fun regardless. I’ll be still counting days until we can have the real thing.
Yeah I kinda felt like you until I went to my friends place and watched one…now I can’t wait for the next one…like I said, it is no substitute but its the next best thing… I’m sure i would be less enthused if my buddies set up wasn’t so great and if my friends weren’t the way they are…and you should also prepare to be counting off A LOT of days til the next real concert…anyone holding their breath for that will be turning blue rather quickly…
Not streaming but doing this saturday, one night only with online merch
Right there with ya’ buddy.
Yeah, that wasn’t me. I think it was queer.
I might be tempted to do something like this if it were to show up. We got a drive in about 40 miles away. Its a little closer to a legit experience unlike following a link in your browser.
Unlike following a link in my browser?
Sorry, yeah, I misread the thread last night. I thought that was you that were rocking out at a neighbor’s house. Cheers to Queer and his homies for doing it, because, although it ain’t a proper rock concert, it’s capturing SOME of the elements (rockin’ out with homies and having a blast with actual people) that make concerts awesome.
I just can’t be bothered to pay actual money to watch a band on my computer. I rarely even do it for free.
not “your” browser but anybody who has the download link.
The town 40 miles away carried the drive in Metallica concert…
$115 a ticket. So, here’s a giant middle finger right back at ya, Lars & Co.
Down sounded incredible…those old vets are true professionals…you can tell they have been practicing and rehearsing in the down time…well oiled machine… had some Greek food and drank some fine wine the lights were flashing and the smoke machine was pumping…a good night was had…I’ll tell you one aspect where it is better than an actual concert…no waiting in line to take a massive piss!!!
I was shocked the drive in near us had the Metallica show, it was one of the first ones announced. I didn’t go but I think the ticket price was for carload up to 6.
One of the coolest things ever, i seen versions of songs for the 1st time, some incredible arrangements, it was definitely a metallica atmosphere to behold.
To me the entire production had that movie feel not a concert, the vocals were all up front and the bass guitar was so just “there”.
I can’t say enough about the production.
Won’t spoil anymore just in case of some sort of release.
Hands down my all time favorite metallica performance, come on blu ray!!!
Yeah I just watched the promo for it…pretty funny…I will be getting it for sure
I guess one nice thing about virtual concerts is there isn’t limited capacity.
